Some interesting notes. Stassi's first pro homer, hats off to him. Kleen had a monster game. M Richard has a good day today, too, but he was both picked off AND doubled off on a pop-up. Not quite sure how the latter happens, but so it goes. Grant Green continues his latest hot streak, tearing apart the pitching today, but booting yet another one in the field. Petey Paramore with 4 walks while DHing today provided an interesting stat line. 2 Straight DNPs for Chris Carter. Hm?

I was wondering about Carter too
Maybe just a little sore, giving him some time?
In regards to Green, I’m not too worried about the defense at this point. If it continues a month into the season, then there should be adequate reason for concern. I really hope he keeps hitting like this though, I think he could really surprise people by how quickly he moves up in the system.
Great for Stassi, btw, but he had that HR in spring so I’m sure that one was a bit sweeter, being against higher level pitching and all.

Just a precaution for Carter after getting hit on the hand with a pitch
I’d guess he’ll be back in the lineup soon.

Very encouraging thus far
Got to say I was really hoping to see a bit more out of him during Spring (obviously, doesn’t matter), but am pleased to see that he is off to a good start in his first regular season with a new organization

Yeesh.
Fourth error for Green? In three games? I know his bat is popping nicely, but if he can’t stay at SS, his value takes a huge hit.
Sundown dazzling day, gold through my eyes.
But my eyes, turned within, only see
starless and bible black.
Eh, I still take a somewhat sunshiney view on Green's defense
If he has physical attributes like arm strength and foot speed sufficient to play shortstop, and that’s still a majority opinion as far as I know, his problems should be correctable. His defense shouldn’t be put under microscope before he has at least a full year in minors, since it’s generally assumed that players don’t get very good defensive instruction at amateur levels. No reason to be very pessimistic at this point.
One thing to note is they did open in Visalia
Though they’ve done a lot of renovations to the grandstands I don’t think their field is all that good. When I went to a couple games there it felt more like a high school quality field and the dirt would really kick up and get dusty any time someone slid. I think Green’s had two fielding and two throwing errors, so it may be worth waiting to see how he does in other ballparks first. If he keeps making errors at a high rate then this is more than just a fluke.

Minor league error totals don't mean too much
The more important thing is whether he’s showing the kind of range necessary to stay at SS. The questions about his defense during the time of the draft mainly focused on his arm (from what I can gather). Scouting reports will be significantly more important with him than his fielding percentage.
Well, they mean something if a player keeps making a ton of them
Even still, some of that can be improved upon.

He has plenty of time to learn to catch or throw the ball. Lack of range would be a bigger problem.

Who’s closing at Sacramento, Demel or H-Rod?
I find it interesting Demel threw 2 IP today. Maybe getting him ready to be a 6th/7th inning guy?
Storey might well be better right now than half the non-injured guys in the A's bullpen

News today is Cust and Miller are officially added to Sacramento's roster
Brown to Midland, Ladendorf back to Stockton.

Not sure how I feel about Brown going back down to Midland
I suppose he could work on his Ks down there, but he’s 24 and I don’t think he has all that much more to prove in AA.

I'm sure of how I feel...
It sucks and is annoying. Yet another negative repercussion of the team’s inexplicable belief that Eric Chavez remains a useful player.

Burton Guster: Hello!
Shawn Spencer: We were turned around-- discombobulated! We... we just now realized we're in restricted waters.
Burton Guster: Just now! And we both have hepatitis!
I didn't notice a provisional note
is there a written difference in how he’s listed now that he’s accepted?
No, it just wasn't official
I saw that specified a few days ago by one of the beat writers.

It's kind of the same thing with Miller
He finally got to the team and was officially added to their active roster, so Ladendorf was then sent back to Stockton. They needed him there while waiting for Miller, but Miller was listed on the roster before that.

Looks like Cust has joined the team in Portland
The people at PGE Park might get to see him back in his old, brief stomping grounds.
