I used to live right next to Mosswood
It tripped me out the first time I saw all the old-timey uniforms. Super awesome.

I guess that means this post should be rec’d.

For future team pictures...
…if someone shows up in jogging shoes and 1980s vintage painted-on stirrups, stash him in the back where they won’t be seen. The bloke at the left end of the front row ruins what would otherwise be a super-cool photo.

What you fail to understand in your joyless myopia is that baseball is the key to life-- the Rosetta Stone, if you will. If you just understood baseball better all your other questions your, your... the, uh... the aliens, the conspiracies they would all, in their way be answered by the baseball gods.
Look!

A good reason to post this.
Can’t find it on YouTube or NBC (which appears to have scrubbed itself of Conan O’Brien material).
yeah that was the first that came to my mind

Was the vintage game against the all-stars/hall-of-famers this same organization?

Not really.
From what I understand (and I don’t know the whole story), one of the teams from this organization had a different take on how vintage ball should be played, and left the league. That team sponsored the event to which you are referring, which, from what I hear, was pretty awesome.
I've been meaning to check out a game,
and it just so happens Mosswood is down the street from my house…

Vintage ball is interesting beyond just the uniforms.
Watching a vintage game, you can see why a lot of today’s game evolved the way it did. The game was extremely offense-oriented — the defenders had gloves with no webbing, so putting the ball in play gave a batter good odds of getting on base.
It took seven balls to walk. Still three strikes to strike out, but a foul (unfair hit) was not a strike, ever, even on a bunt. But, an unfair hit is always in play — in other words, if you hit a foul tip and the catcher hangs on, you’re out, because it’s no different from hitting a foul pop-up and having it be caught.
Also, you know how in MLB the batter can run to first base if nobody is on first? In 1886, the batter HAD to run to first, and if there were other runners on base, they had to run too. Now, imagine the following scenario: bases loaded, one out, and the batter strikes out. The catcher can then drop the ball, pick it up, step on home plate for the force out, and throw to first for the double play. Evil!
Lots more interesting stuff, from the hurler’s box (no mound!) being 50 feet from the plate, to quick pitches and hidden ball tricks, to a hit batter just being a ball, to the 43oz wooden bats. If you love baseball, you really should check out one of these games!
