Moneyball movie update
I was reading some trade papers at work today and saw that Jonah Hill is going to be replacing Demetri Martin as Paul DePodesta in the Moneyball movie. Apparently Brad Pitt is still going to play Billy Beane. Bennett Miller (who directed 'Capote') is set to direct. The Jonah Hill casting is a bit odd, but maybe it works? Here's a link to the story:

Thoughts? I'm excited for the movie, but I'm not sure if anyone even cares anymore...

I thought DePodesta was very quiet and reserved
Hill is too goofy methinks.

Is this movie a comedy?

So they got rid of Soderbergh eh?
I guess making movies idolizing facist murderers doesn’t get you much pull in Hollywood these days. Probably a good thing.
What?
Soderbergh has one movie in the can, two others in production and another in pre-production. The industry knows how he works: he makes a big summer big money movie (Ocean’s series, Erin Brockovich, Out of Sight) in order to finance the pictures he wants to make (Che, Bubble, Solaris). He plays the game, the studios play right back.
ha ha!
What’s Soderbergh’s next project? “Hugo Chavez is a Great Capitalist?” or “Hitler was a Human?”
He has four other films at least
In various stages of production. Ditch the snark. It’s unearned.
Leopold Bloom on why he loves Mr. Peter Gammons, his best buddy:
"Peter Gammons systematically ignored and/or ran down the A’s in the pages of Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News for a good ten year stretch in the late seventies and early to mid-eighties. Trust me, the c**ksucker hates our team."
Its sad, because there is no way this movie doesn't flop
Every single A’s fan will see it, but judging by our attendance over the last decade, I doubt the movie takes on avatar in the standings.

I think the combination of Sorkin and Miller is a great one.
Look at what Miller did with Capote. I nearly killed myself when somebody described Capote to me. There wasn’t much appealing about it. At all. Yet, the movie was fantastic. A lot of that was Hoffman’s performance, but Miller directed a great movie and I never would’ve expected that thing to be so good.
I’m hoping he can work the same magic with Moneyball.

Wait, really?
He made one movie about Che Guevara, and now he’s nothing but a fascist murderer supporter? It was a movie. And by all accounts, it was a fantastic one.

There's 3 to 1 odds that brewitt never even saw the movie
And he’s just repeating something some windbag on television said.

Just to let you know that Che Guevara
was an anti-american communist. Hello…McFly…communism this is where the state owns everything and distributes everything equally (supposedly). Also, where you have no rights including no speech rights and are usually run by ruthless dictators.
Sorry…I’m not going to buy into the silly cult following just because Guevara’s face is depicted on a few naive people’s T-shirts. All I’m saying is that making a movie about the humanness of such a man shows how questionable Soderbergh’s politics are. You can like it if you want its america at least you have a choice.
I am staring at this comment in awe
I have never flagged anything. I don’t know what to do.
You clearly have not seen the Community guidelines that ask us to keep politics out of our comments.
Should I flag your comment or are you going to stop talking about this shit?

Jesus.
I’m not even going to touch the political argument (and believe me, it isn’t much of one), but, again, really? It’s a movie. Is Francis Ford Coppola an mobster supporter because he made a movie (3!) “humanizing” members of the mafia? Is Stanley Kubrick a “questionable” person because he made A Clockwork Orange?

I really think American History X was made by Nazis...
Sorry…I couldn’t help myself…

Jonah as Paul
That has to be one of the oddest casting choices I’ve ever heard of. Two comics lined up to play him, someone tell me is DePodesta that funny?

I'm so angry right now
I HATE Jonah Hill.
He is the blackhole of charisma.
If he is in something, I don’t watch.
Is this the real life-
Is this just fantasy-
Caught in a landslide-
No escape from reality-
Blackhole of charisma?
I won’t argue with your poor taste. But if you must bring up charisma, can we at least agree that he has more charisma than Dimitri Martin? Have you seen his show. I find his monotone straight faced super geek act funny, but charismatic, it is not…

UGH
I fucking hate Dimitri Martin, I just wanna punch him in the face. My lab parter looks like Dmitri Martin and I wanna punch that kid in the face just cause he looks like Dmitri Martin. And possibly because I have some unresolved anger issues.
You also have some unresolved humor issues apparently
What’s there to hate about Martin? (He, too, was a bad choice to play DePodesta, btw)

Cracking up at the rant about Che ...
… especially the part where commenter brewett cites “no speech rights” as a key issue. Right wing irony at its best.
