it gives me no pleasure, believe me
at least this year the A’s did sign another veteran ace (Sheets), plus the young’uns are farther along.
Update
Duke doesnt understand why Geren said that, he believes that he can be ready by opening day. Good job Geren, Good job.
and Duchscherer told Chron writer John Shea
that he wants to meet with Geren to “get on the same page” about their expectiations.
yeah, I’ll say…
Pitch counts
Geren wants all his starters to be up to 100 pitches by the start of the season, and Duke is not on track to reach that since he’s missed a start (going the standard +15 pitches each game in ST).
Duke, on the otherhand, argues that he typically can be efficient and pitch 6 innings before he hits 90 pitches, so if he can work up to 85 or so by the start of the season, he’ll be ready.
Hence, the “on different pages” in terms of who breaks camp in the rotation.
Seriously Geren, why bother saying ANYTHING?
Just let it ride until you know for sure!
Unreal.
