Good list
I like that it’s not outdated at all.
"Their batters are patient to the point that it's annoying." -Ryan Franklin
lol
"The A's get some action but they do not score..." -Glen Kuiper
"Anyone who calls themselves the Angels Angels should have to start over and ride the short bus." -timmeh from McCovey Chronicles
This list was horrible even before Desme quit, which obviously postdated their publication schedule
Shawn Spencer: "I’m receiving a transmission from your husband. Really more of a voicemail, if I'm being honest. A status update. Perhaps a twitter."
Burton Guster: "I believe it’s called a tweet."
Shawn Spencer: "There’s no way I’m saying that."
Desme
LOL should have traded him to the Royals before retirement for cash- Dayton Moore is so inept it’s funny
Fun Fact: Jonathan Sanchez threw his first no-no on my 13th birthday.
That would still be a really bad trade for the A's
Leopold Bloom on why he loves Mr. Peter Gammons, his best buddy:
"Peter Gammons systematically ignored and/or ran down the A’s in the pages of Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News for a good ten year stretch in the late seventies and early to mid-eighties. Trust me, the c**ksucker hates our team."
he's still our property
and his “retirement” might last as long as Michael Jordan’s when MJ tried to play baseball. Like, what if Jesus C. tells Desme that the best way to honor him is to go 40-40 in the big leagues every year? He cant not do it, right?
Handbook
I think the publication date was only a week or two back. Book likely went to printers in January.
i knew we should have kept wallace, taylor didn't even make the list!

But Wallace did!
DESPITE being traded!!111
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
Im really excited to see what Bret Hunter does this year.
If he worked out his delivery he can be nasty.
"Carter's 25-game hitting streak isn't any normal streak. He's 46 for 97 (.474 average) during the run, adding 16 walks and compiling 81 total bases in the process. I'm out of superlatives for what he's doing." - Kevin Goldstein
Stassi 4???
haha.
Sure, the guy has all the potential in the world, but how can one possibly reason him at 4 and Ynoa at 11?
"Did you know you can comment on Athletics Nation from your phone or PDA? SB Nation has launched mobile commenting. Check it out next time you’re at the game or bar and have something to say."
Really, Stassi over Ynoa is the thing that bugs you?
Not Stassi over, like, everybody from 5-10?
There’s gotta be something like a 90% chance Cardenas has a significantly better career than Stassi. He’s certainly a much better bet to make the majors.
BA really sucks.

It's not that that bugs me
My point is that Ynoa and Stassi should be grouped together at around 10-11.
Regardless, this si just the worst prospect list of all time.

I find their podcast very soothing
when I can’t sleep, it has a nice soporific effect
I suspect that you think tilting at windmills means something other than what it does.
The ninth fastest thirty year old in San Francisco
Figueroa at #5.
Total joke.
"To tell the truth, I'm not excited to go to Cleveland, but we have to. If I ever saw myself saying I'm excited going to Cleveland, I'd punch myself in the face, because I'm lying" - Ichiro
It's strange
Is strange that BA, of all publications, is rating him that highly even though he’s already 24 and hasn’t pitched in AA. Especially since he wasn’t blowing hitters away. Actually makes me happy to see him that high, because that means some scouts must really really like what they’re seeing. Just going by stats and age, he’s a small step above organizational filler. I hope those scouts are rights.

Where's Van Poppel?!? He's gonna be a star!!!
"The only way I'm going to get a Gold Glove is with a can of spray paint." - Reggie Jackson
I hadn't even noticed them ranking Everidge over Leon
Wow. That’s comic gold, right there. What a joke.

ask Baseball America
It would be interesting to ask Baseball America about their list. Their prospect handbooks are a good read and most years, the list seems on track.
Not having Simmons and Demel in the top 30, Figueroa so high and why is Everidge even on the list?
Hmm...I heard a standup comic use that it last night
and it really wasn’t that funny. Might have been the delivery, though.

What's the deal with Tommy Everidge ranked ahead of Arnold Leon?
I mean, come on, Tommy Everidge isn’t even on the team anymore!

what was our top 30 list again?
That should be stickied to show how much more we know about the A’s than other “publications” do. This is a completely worthless, valueless list. I feel dumber after reading it.
Me also feel dummer after me read it too

why shouldn't we though?
we read more about the A’s, their minor system, their drafts, and the rest of the nonsense than the writers of any publication does.
Nick Swisher is handsome.
I must say, we are also good looking!
While I am sure there are a few Athletic’s Nation members who are very well read on the A’s prospects, and other members that go to a great deal of minor league games. I have my reservations on how many of us, could go up against a Sickels or Goldstein in a debate over which A’s prospects are better. This in not ment to sound bad, these guys are payed to do this job.
When I read the Baseball America list or any other list for that mattter and the list has some prospect higher on the list then seen before, I think maybe “someone likes this kid” or something like that. For example, if Baseball America has Figueroa ranked #5, they likely have some reason, be it a few scouts thought this kid was great or some other reason
I for one, have never been to a minor league baseball game. I try to look at stats and stuff written about the A’s minors, but I am far from an expert. I wonder how many Athletic’sNation members are in the same boat a me?
This in not ment to sound bad, these guys are payed to do this job.
Actually, one of the thoughts I first had when I read the article was to to think that I know more about math than about 95% of high school teachers, and maybe there’s some chance that I know more about the A’s, their prospects, and the team’s chances than some writer.
In fact, I’m often surprised to see how the national publications lack in getting some kind of “local talent” to write up on things they obviously know little about.
Nick Swisher is handsome.
I've seen three or four SBNation baseball blogs that actually published an annual this year.
Like, a big 300-page season preview book full of player profiles, articles, and stuff. DRaysBay published one. If I were a Rays fan, where else could I go to get such an in-depth season preview? Certainly not ESPN or any other national media source.
Taken down with hearts alive, our hearts alive.
I can visualize ESPN's analysts in the conference room,
frantically flipping pages of various magazines, going, “We need to find out about some organization that’s apparently in Tampa!”
