A great moment in radio
Living in the Bay Area (San Mateo for me) we fans are left with no real place to voice our thoughts, concerns and good vibes for our A's. 680 spends 24 hours a day ramming the Giants down the Bay Area's throats. We A's fans are the red headed step child of the Bay Area. It just so happens that this ginger went on to great success while the golden child slops around in its own mediocrity (just guess who my most hated team is). I believe a change is within our grasps. I have always enjoyed Damon Bruce because he was the only host on 680 who did not fly the Giants flag. He would regularly bash their management and call them out. He never toed the company line. As, i assume, many of you know, Damon Bruce has switched from 680 to 1050, a place, while still KNBR, is not the Giants flagship station. I turned on his first show today and what did I hear? Ken Korach and Damon Bruce discussing Brett Anderson at length and the futures of Michael Taylor and Chris Carter. The next segment DB praised Ken Korach saying that while KNBR praises Kruk and Kuip, Ken is "second to none in the Bay Area media." He then went on to say that A's fans never have been allowed to voice their opinions through the radio media and those days are over. What is the point to this not so organized rant? It is this, I for one am tired of having to listen to Giants' fans dominate the airwaves. It is on us A's fans to let our voices be heard. I believe we know have our media outlet with Damon Bruce on 1050. If we want more A's buzz in the Bay Area, it is on us to create it.
Go A's.

KNBR
Most of their talking heads know nothing outside of the giants on baseball. Tom T must be the dumbest one of all when it comes to baseball. Ralphie is a giant lover but does give Sabean much grief.
Amen, brother!

I heard the interview with Ken Korach yesterday
and it was awesome! Damon is going to do great in that new time slot from 12-4. Not only is he opening the floor for A’s fans to speak their minds on all things A’s, this means I have a really god radio show to listen to during the day. I’m happy for us A’s fans and I’m happy for Damon as he is a friend of mine.
I can’t stand the Brooks-Fitz slot on 680. It’s the worst radio show on that station next to Murph and Mac…at least Fitz can talk basketball competently and has an intelligent delivery. Brooks is a total moron and is constantly screaming at the callers…no wonder they have so few good callers anymore.

I've heard Fitz say Dan Harden
and Rich Haren too many times to give him any credit.

What would the A's know about a massive homer?

KNBR has been stupid for years..
Besides the point that they have been simply unlistenable, they have alienated almost half of the market. They have all these A’s fans within listening distance and mums the word. Now they’re starting to figure out that they’re market is a little bigger. Duh…you stupid radio station.

No he's not.
He’s a caricature who’s been riding his reputation without actually doing anything of substance for years.

I disagree with you guys
I sometimes turn off Gary’s show because I’m not interested in what’s being discussed, but I personally love his show and do listen just about every morning. But that’s cool…..to each his own,

Radnich makes me want to jam an ice pick through each ear drum
Barbieri, however, makes me want to stomp a small kitten in front of a classroom of kindergarteners.
If fact, virtually everybody at KNBR could drop into a black hole and I would weep for, maybe, a couple of nanoseconds.

Is also a viral youtube video superstar in the U.K. for referring to Darren Huckerby as a “legend” when the San Jose Earthquakes acquired him (Huckerby spent most of his career playing in the English second division):

I really don't understand the concept of a least-favorite team having no real direct affect on your favorite team
It makes much more sense to hate the Angels than the Giants. Hating the Giants just shows the inferiority complex you have. Why do that?

I personally don't hate the Giants... they are more of an annoyance.
I do hate the preferential treatment that they get in the Bay Area, though. And, yes, I hate the Angels, Red Sox & Yankees. I don’t quite hate the Mariners and Rangers, but that could be changing soon because they are getting more and more competitive in the AL West.

it does make sense
Until Newkom & Co. take a more reasonable position on T-rights to San Jose, or at least let MLB buy them out, the Giants are a more serious enemy to the A’s and their Bay Area fans than the Angels, because they threaten destruction of the franchise. The Angels and A’s are natural business allies, just like the Giants and Dodgers were when Peter O’Malley stepped in to block the Giants move to St. Petersburg.

Yes, except I do not believe for one second that the typical "GIANTS SUK DUDEZ!" bullshit is based on a logical examiniation of territorial rights
The very concept is on a level that’s far too lofty for the lowest common denominator to grasp.

Because for local fans
It’s much more logical to talk shit to Giants fans, because there are way more of them than Angels, Yankee, Red Sox, or other “typical” rival fans.

When did making sense play into fanhood?
It doesn’t make sense to love or hate people based on the laundry they wear yet we all do it. The A’s have no true rivals. We “hate” the teams that we are competing against. When the Mariners and A’s were battling for AL West supremacy we all hated the Mariners and before then it was Texas. I do not recall hatred being spewed at the Angels in those days. And is it really hatred when it shifts so easily? Our dislike for teams change over time based on the competition, yet one thing has remained true, my hatred for the Littles. I grew up and live in San Mateo, the heart of Giants territory. Technically it “makes sense” for me to be a Giants fan. But instead of being a fan, where I live has fueled my hatred for the Littles. I am 28 so in the 80’s I was a kid. Growing up my parents took the family to both A’s and Giants games but more A’s games because the stadium was nicer and the food and weather were better at the Coliseum. Also being Cuban we rooted for Jose Canseco. I enjoyed both teams as a kid, that is until 1989. I rooted for the A’s during the Battle of the Bay and this lead to incessant arguments between my friends, their parents and I. They drew the line in the sand and I was with the good guys in the green and gold. Since that day I have been a Giants hater. I am the only A’s fan amongst my group of friends, and in San Mateo it seems. I have taken on whole parties in the A’s/Giants debate (it is funny how fans of a team brush off WS victories when they have none to speak of). Verbally fighting Giants fans seems to be a big part of my baseball life. And that is why I am a Giants hater.

Debates
I love A’s/Giants debates… last year wasn’t such a good year to have those, but for almost a decade it was easy to win the arguments.
My faux hatred has always been reserved for three teams. The Twins, the White Sox and the Royals. I miss those teams being in the AL West. I didn’t miss it so much when I was sitting in the Coliseum for Game 3 of the 2006 ALDS, however.
The Giants are more of a “friendly rivalry” for me. It is cool to argue with friends and family members about which team is better, but I don’t get all worked up about it in any case.
It's only cool to argue A's/Giants
because we win that argument from every possible angle.
Taken down with hearts alive, our hearts alive.
Not last year...
There was the whole “season series and overall record” card for Giants fans to play. But fear not… this year the debate may be winnable once more.
I suppose.
But dig any deeper than the current season, and Giants fans start sweating.
Taken down with hearts alive, our hearts alive.
i love when they bust out with
“we have a real stadium.”

I don't hate the Giants
Would have been nice to have that as an option.
I do hate their territorial rights stance, even if I understand it.
Not having it as an option was the joke

I thought Damon Bruce was a self-important blowhard.
One of the things I like about Reno is that it’s beyond the range of KNBR. Then again, there’s no other radio here either, save for evangeli$ts and wingnuts.
