Open Thread: Split Squad Action!

Greetings from Phoenix (he pre-wrote 5 days ago from his Berkeley home). OK actually, Scottsdale, because "the gang," aka me, baseballgirl, Oaktown Power, gigglingone, and Wes7 are taking in the A's-Giants game today. (Unless my plane crashed last night, in which case this post is probably more than a bit awkward for everybody.)

I'll try, when I can this weekend, to weigh in with "on the spot" eyeball reports as I take in games today, tomorrow (from Phoenix), and Monday (in some place they're calling Goodyear).

As for the starting lineups, they were a tad difficult to predict when I wrote this 5 days ago. But go A's and talk to you again soon from the valley of the sun!

I thought about that

but seeing as I’m also working it might not go too well.

BTW, MLB.com audio feed for the A’s game against the Giants only had the KNBR feed, while the game agaiinst the Padres has both KTRB and the Padres’ radio.

here are the starting lineups for both games

courtesy of Joe Stiglich:

The A’s lineups –

Vs. San Francisco — Ellis 2B, Barton 1B, Sweeney DH, Kouzmanoff 3B, Gross RF, Taylor LF, Brown CF, Powell C, Pennington SS, G. Gonzalez P

Vs. San Diego — Davis CF, Patterson LF, Chavez 1B, Cust DH, Fox 3B, Buck RF, Rosales SS, Donaldson C, Petit 2B, Mortensen P.

(note: Slusser tweeted both lineups earlier):

We have Chavvy and Cust and Buck and Rosales and Donaldson and Fox here, Mortenson pitching. Can’t remember who else they announced. Also NO HOT LINKS wtf?

I think I was 14 months old or something when he called that timeout, but I remember him being a great player in the NBA for the Kings.

by Sir Realist on Mar 13, 2010 1:58 PM PST up reply actions

i’m almost certain that st. george absinthe, made in alameda, has wormwood.

the thing about legality is obnoxiously unclear though. the FDA doesn’t like is thojune, a toxin. and as long as you can keep the thojune down, the wormwood is OK. i just closed the window i got the quote below from, so i can’t source it for you, but you still get the content.

Thujone itself was present only in the smallest amounts and that it’s the combination of Wormwood along with other herbs such as hyssop and calamus which create the drink’s notable characteristic of mystically lucid clarity. After much legal wrangling demonstrating this data to the FDA, the government overturned the ban with set stipulations that the thujone would remain at a low 10 parts per million.

don't care if i ever get back.
