I Am Dizzy. I Am Delighted. I Am Depressed.

The last 24 hours have been information overload.

Jane Lee (who I am really growing to like) a tweetin'. SuSlu (who I already liked)a bloggin'. Buck whinin' (Rob Neyer touchein'. ) Marty Lurie leavin'. Roy Steele Bobblehead's awaitin'. Fan Appreciation Tailgates enticin'. (Are the A's a listenin'?).

I am dizzy from the trades/signings/waiver wire pick up's and DFA's. I am delighted that a broadcaster who started his career with the A's will take a place in Cooperstown. But I am depressed due to the fact that Bill King has once again been denied his place amongst the royalty of baseball's greatest voices (no disrespect to Jon Miller, a truly accomplished broadcaster and deserving winner of the Ford C. Frick Award).

So what the heck are we going to do about it?

I tried starting a website for Bill King. I honestly don't have the time to run it by myself and drum up an audience. I feel like a failure. But as Thomas Edison once said "I have not failed, I have found 1000 ways that don't work."

I put out an "iron on" that my quasicousin made to support Bill King so we could DIY our way to Bill's Ford C. Frick Award speech. I think my daughter and I are the only people who actually have one. :)

So 2 things that have yet to work (only 998 more to go!) and that have me listening to this song this morning (It is me and all, but there is a line that reminds me of Bill King in there "I will be with you, in Mid October, at the Coliseum, carefree.").

So what next?

A more true sentiment has never been spoken

I have some ideas, but I was wondering if anyone else of any real marketing skill might be interested in coming up with a guerrilla campaign?

I remember standing and staring at Lon Simmons picture in the Hall of Fame and seeing all the blank spaces for future winners and wondering when Bill would be there. I remember wondering what I could do to get him there, outside of bringing a picture and some scotch tape that is.

Bumper Stickers? Calling in to talk shows? Emailing the heck out of sports writers? Suing people!

Okay maybe not the last one.

I'd like to find a way to combine all of Bill's best calls for the world to listen to. I know Robert Buan has them compiled somewhere. Let's bug Robert until he puts them on display for the world!

I'd like to then direct the BBWA to said repository of audio wonderment and ask them "How can you not vote for this guy?" How do we procure a list of voters?

I'd like for the A's to campaign on his behalf. Fat chance, sadly.

I know we all love Bill. I know we all miss him. I don't know how we all band together to get him his rightful place on the picture board with all the other Ford C. Frick winners in Cooperstown. But I know I won't rest until he is there... Who is with me and what action are you willing to take?
