Steve Tolleson on 40-Man Roster?
Any body know where this guy came from? I did a quick bio look-up and he raked in AA in the Twins system, and also in the Arizona Fall league, but I hadn't heard any one mention him before I saw his name today on the 40-man with no number assigned to him. Does this have something to do with the Rosales / Miles trade? Or did the Twins feel bad that we lost Grant Desme and wanted to give him to us out of the kindness of their hearts? (Obviously not the case, I'm just a little mystified given all the recent changes to the roster without once hearing Tolleson's name.)

He was a waiver claim today

Roster at 41
The logical choice would be petit being DFA’d. I also wouldnt be surprised if they salvaged some trade value out of eveland and tavares.
EVELAND, TAVARES, AND PETIT FOR HANLEY RAMIREZ

IDK, the A's give up a lot of talent in that deal.
What you fail to understand in your joyless myopia is that baseball is the key to life-- the Rosetta Stone, if you will. If you just understood baseball better all your other questions your, your... the, uh... the aliens, the conspiracies they would all, in their way be answered by the baseball gods.
He was good in 2008, but...
2008 in AA was the only time he ever cracked an .800 ops, and that was driven by an unusually high babip. He was always very decent, but he’s nothing special. No idea why the A’s want him in fact, when they just got Sogard. Where is he going to play? 3B at Midland? Yay, worth a 40 man spot.

Sogard hasnt played in AAA and isnt ready
Is also limited at best to 2b.
Sogard is ready for AAA
.293/.365/.400 at San Antonio. What are they going to block Weeks and leave Sogard at Midland?

I imagine
Weeks plays second in Midland.
Sogard/Cardenas split time between 3rd and 2nd in Sacramento.
Tollenson plays SS in Sacramento. Rosales and Tollenson are ehre for when Cliffy needs to become the Utility guy.
That's certainly plausible
But all reports are that Tolleson is a weak defender, and he hasn’t played much SS in the high minors. Horton had a full season at Midland. Wasn’t great, but wasn’t exactly terrible. Very decent chance Petit won’t be claimed as well. IDK, I’m sure they didn’t get Tolleson not to play at Sacto, but I’m also skeptical that the A’s are going to run a left side of the infield of Tolleson and a learning Cardenas to support the pitchers. It’s interesting.
