New AN Member Here
Hello Athletics Nation!
I'm new around these parts as some of you can tell. I believe that I'm a rare A's fan in the fact that I've never lived in Oakland nor have I been to Oakland. I have been a life long A's fan non the less. My all time favorite A's are Rickey Henderson, Tim Hudson, Nick Swisher, Dave Stewart, Eric Chavez, and Mark Ellis. I'm very optimistic about the future of the A's and think that we have the foundation, good young rotation, for a division crown in 2011. I look forward to being apart of the AN community in the future and cheering on our A's!! If you have any questions fire away! Thanks for taking your time to read this.

Unless you vow your undying love for Jack Cust, you will be hated on AN.
He is a mix of Ty Cobb and Joe Dimaggio. He was also part of the first HOF class, even though he wasn’t even born yet.
During a contract holdout with Oakland in the early 1990s, Henderson said, "If they want to pay me like Mike Gallego, I’ll play like Gallego."

Yep.
Also, thinking Billy Beane is stupid is the new black, but used to get you hated.
"PECOTA can pretty much kiss my ass."-Nico
Beane was a piece of ownership when Wolff and Co bought the A's.
So I doubt he is over being apart of the A’s. You can argue complacency but I do not think he is over it.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've accused somebody of being a troll,
but add one to that number. Flagged.

Welcome, GMG
As long as you don’t make more fanposts than comments, you’re okay in my book.

18 times is my prediction for the amount of K’s Jack “My Best Day’s Were With The A’s” Cust will have against the A’s. I did semi like him his 1st season with us. I do wish him luck in Seattle just not against us.

If we can only strikeout Cust once per game, our pitching is terrible.

Welcome as well!
I must ask how you became and A’s fan…..?
All I can say about stats is…
SCOTT BROSIUS!!
I’ve been a big baseball fan my whole life. I played 2nd from 6-20 years old. I became a A’s fan when I was living in Sydney in 1988, when I was 6, when I watched on TV the WS and picked the A’s over the Giants and feel the same way to this day. I have taken a lot of grief from my Dad and Brother, Tigers fans, and Braves fans, I live outside of Atlanta, over the years but I’m A’s till the end.

If you were living in Sydney in '88 I don't see a mistake.

It was the ‘89 I lived there, I called my mom to check, and when the A’s fan in me was born.

It’s cool. My mom was like why do you want to know that, are you trying to impress a girl?

maybe its a dateline thing
maybe it was 1988 there when it was 1989 here?

I hate ’88.
But welcome to you – make sure your grammar and spelling is good.
At one point in my life I liked Dave Kingman more than Rickey Henderson. I was stupid.
especially during the off season.
You don’t want to be targeted in an argument about grammar as that kind of stuff happens when there isn’t much going on.
I was not serious when I wrote that...

It’s funny cause a couple of my EX’s became A’s fans while we dated and they still ask how the A’s are doing and if so and so is still with us. It’s funny to me.

Cool. I guess we'll see you in other threads soon.
Maybe, if we’re lucky, someone might just make a fanpost about player movement or free agent signing rumors. Don’t get your hopes up or hold your breath on that, though, it doesn’t happen all that often ’round here during the off season. [/sarcasm]

Sounds like from your story you’ve got a neat viewpoint to share with the community. If you’re interested in a quick rundown of what some of the people here are like, I’d recommend reading http://www.athleticsnation.com/2010/11/29/1843510/a-newcomers-guide-to-a-few-commonly-held-viewpoints written by a rather strapping young lad whom the ladies take great delight in.
As far as questions, who’’s your favorite player of all time? Is there a particular young player you’re most excited about?

Thanks! That’s a tough one because I think we have several young players who are going to be good. If I had to pick one it would be Ryan “I love doubles” Sweeney. I think he will develop some pop 12-17 HR a season while hitting for a high AVG and playing nice defense. I could go for while really about our young players.
Bring Rickey Back!
I think we're all waiting for the day Sweeney (Swingles he's called here often) fills into his body and hits 15 home runs
That would be pretty nice!

Do you have a favorite starting pitcher currently on the A’s?

Note: Many arguements have been had because of this...
esp about Cahill…
Note (1): That is a good note
Note (2): I asked who his favorite pitcher was, not who he thought the best was.
