A little FanPost help from my friends?

I've been working (for longer than I care to admit) on my first FanPost (which will now become my second), complete with several table graphs. I'm having the following problem, which I hope someone can either tell me "no, it can't be done", or how to correct it:

Using the 'Edit FanPost' function, I can change the color of the text in a particular cell in 'HTML view' and successfully have it show up in ' Visual View'. Ditto for changing a particular cell background color. Unfortunately, when I then 'Preview' the post, the color in the cell text or the cell background color reverts to black or white, as the case may be. Is this a function of the 'Preview' only (i.e., the final FanPost once published will look like the 'Visual View' in the Editor), or is there some other coding syntax I need to use to get the final post to have colors in the cell text? I've spent a lot of time tearing my hair out and slowly going crazy, reworking HTML etc. at the W3 Schools, googling my problem, etc., but I can't find specifics to solve this and it's something that you folks have obviously mastered. Thanks in advance...
