Rangers make a "strong play" for Beltre

In the words of Teddy KGB: DIS SON OF BITCH: Teddy KGB Loses Final Hand

According to Karl Ravech of Baseball Tonight, the Rangers have apparently decided to go after Beltre, which makes perfect sense <------- Sarcasm

Link here: Rangers go after Beltre?

Aside from trying to end any feeble, minuscule hopes A's fans had of getting Beltre to sign once he was out of legitimate suitors, the Rangers would face quite a clusterf*ck if they signed the greedy opportunistic third baseman.

Michael Young, a very solid player, is entrenched at third already, and Beltre is definitely better defensively. So either Young will have to change positions (AGAIN), or he gets traded.

Is it probably an overall upgrade to sign Beltre and trade Young? Yes. But the Rangers will have zero leverage when they trade Young after signing Beltre, and will get lowball offers. Of course, not making sense has never stopped most MLB clubs from making moves anyway.

This move would probably make the Rangers better while also hurting the A's chances of getting better. Texas would widen the gap between it and the rest of the division just a little bit more.

Happy Monday, everybody.
