So, Tejada is a Gigante? Does That Mean That Huddy Will Soon Be in Orange and Black?
I "Har-D-en", ahem, "Har-K-en" back to days of yore when the sun beat down on my face and all was good in Oakland.
Mark Mulder still threw the "S-Mulder". Huddy was the unquestioned ACE. Giambi was the MVP, while the next MVP laid in waiting. Barry Zito was a year away from his Cy Young and Art Howe almost won Manger of the year. Ah those were the days.
"Howe" many of you were at the game when AN was hatched? That was the day that the magic happened.
Jason Giambi stepped in against Mike Stanton in the bottom of the ninth and sent us home in a frenzy I have rarely felt. (Scutaro's double against the Twins and Baron's slam against Utah) I was holding my "Sign Giambi or Sell The Team" sign in section 107, while our own "Blez" was grinning ear to ear and becoming an A's fan. I can still see the blurring and radiance that the emotion of a packed house created.
Barry Zito, Miguel Tejada, Hudson, Mulder and Ramon all ran on the field to congratulate "G" that day. Now they are all gone. I miss that team man...I truly do. Now two of those four active players are on the Giants and they are two of the players that I loved the most.

I had a great time then too, but
It’s almost 2011.
Miggy is like an old girlfriend who left under odd circumstances or some screwed up life situation. And after all this time there are plenty of mixed feelings: He was fantastic to watch during the streak in 2002, and seemed to be the face of the A’s for the new millennium. But then the ownership said “we aren’t even going to try to sign you so it’s a non-issue”, he wallowed in obscurity on the Orioles and Astros, was implicated as a `Roider, turned out to be 2 years older, and now returns more appropriately as a super utility infielder for one year at best.
I was mostly glad to hear that he’ll be back in the Bay Area. But the Giants are just back to their old ways, trying to string together a passable crew of veterans instead of planning for the next 2-3 years. You can certainly understand Sabean here. He wants to maintain the team that won it all, but he’s hoping that any missing parts can simply be replaced for the same result.
The most comical part was the headline in today’s SJ Mercury: “Tejada is New Shortstop” Really, how long is that supposed to last? It’s been repeated often on AN and elsewhere that a good pitching staff needs a great (or at least not shitty) infield to truly shine. The Giants got by this year with no small amount of luck. Can they just stick a declining bat and fielder in and expect the same?

When I read this
I thought you were calling for the A’s to sign Adam Dunn ;-)
I well remember the Tejada chant…

If Giant fans copy this chant.
I will be pretty pissed.

They aren't that creative
When you've played this game for 10 years and gone to bat 7,000 times and gotten 2,000 hits do you know what that really means? It means you've gone 0-5,000. -Reginald Martinez "Reggie" Jackson

you don't say
do you know what their Zito chant is? “Barry. Barry” – the same one they used for Bonds
LOL...

I love Miggy
He was my favorite player when I became a fan. I was a Stairs aficionado before that but I never really had a favorite player until Miggy. Those early naught A’s teams cemented me as an A’s fan. To think that those players are nearing the twilight of their respective careers saddens me.
I refuse to see Miggy as anything less than the player of memory. He is and will always be the RH SS (my own position and handedness) MVP of my favorite team. He will always do those practice half swings and there will always be the Tejada chants in the background. And he will always hit a walkoff double to end every game.

FWIW, the Giants have no need for Hudson
Also, I was at that game and second the electricity of the house that afternoon. IIRC, it was the 11th straight victory and a sweep of the Yankees to boot.

I wasn't at that particular game
but i was listening to it on the radio on the way home from work. It was one of those moments in time when you just knew Giambi was gonna go deep…you could feel it! And it was awesome, for sure.
Now, can we just sign Beltre, or Dunn, or both? Let’s do this!!!!!
Go A’s!

... no?
"We don't want our people to be preoccupied with seminude, crazy men jumping up and down who are chasing an inflated object," said Sheik Mohamed Osman Arus, head of operations for the Hizbul Islam insurgent group.
WTH is that supposed to mean?

Thanks....it was a bit cryptic.
