Sparky Anderson passed away today, good bye to a worthy opponent and one of the best managers of all time.
The 1972 World Series saw our beloved Oakland Athletics go up against the Big Red Machine, with the likes of Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Pete Rose, led by their fiery skipper, Sparky Anderson.
A familiar face in the American League since I was a little kid, he will be missed.
Did you know that he would not even go into the Hall of Fame, as a visitor, until late in life. He said he did not believe he was worthy.
