Berkman

It seems like the A's are aggressively pursuing Lance Berkman. Although he had an okay year this year, his historical stats show he is a great hitter with good power and an above average player over all.  An executive interested in Berkman states that it will probably take a 1yr/7mil to sign him. So I ask you AN is this a good deal? Is he a declining player, or did he just have an off season? Do the A's even want/need him? What type of contract would you offer if you were Beane?

Personally I think he should be locked in for at least 2 years. I'm sick of this "who's gonna be DH" every season. I would offer him a 2yr/12mil with a buyout of 1mil on the 2nd year, just in case he doesn't improve. Does this sound like a reasonable deal?
