Elias Rankings are out
Mark Ellis, and Orlando Hudson, both Type B.
The obvious ones + Adam Dunn, Jorge De La Rosa, Carl Pavano, all Type A.
Can't find a non-MLBtr link though, so apologies there.

The Elias Rankings are dumb and arcane and take into account stuff like BA and RBI
And, more significantly, they’re done by position, the top 20% at any position are Type A. Ellie’s raw score is actually higher than Molina and Rhodes’s, but he doesn’t crack the 20% threshold at 2B in the AL, even though there are lots of Type As with lower raw scores.
It’s also why Rafael Soriano’s Elias score is 91, while Cliff Lee’s is 87.
and defense isn't factored in
so anyone who has a ton of value tied up in defense gets immediately screwed by the system.
Actually, "defense" is factored in
but it’s in the form of fielding percentage and, I think, putouts and assists, so it’s another loony calculation.

I think it makes offering him arbitration a no-brainer now
He’s not going to get $6M on the open market or in arbitration. Let him make the call whether he wants to stay at a lesser salary or head elsewhere and give the A’s a sandwich pick.

The top 20% of 2B/3B/SS; 1B/OF/DH; C; SP; RP are granted Type A status
That’s in each league and includes non-FA’s.
And supposedly Fielding Percentage is one of the stats used to determine the ratings for the 2B/3B/SS group.

Jorge De La Rosa
I want him in Green and Gold next season. With our protected pick we are at an advantage towards acquiring him.

I highly doubt DLR would decline arbitration if offered
He made $5 milly last year, and he won’t get that again on the open market if it would cost the team acquiring him a 16-45 pick.
I think he'd still get a multi-year deal
He’s easily the best SP, non-Lee division, when factoring in performance, age, and injury history, on the FA market. And, he’s been pitching in a hitters’ paradise which is known for death to pitchers.
