The Arizona Fall League has begun

For those of us who struggle to watch yet another play-offs in which the A's aren't involved but aren't quite ready to pack baseball away for the winter there is a chance to follow some (hopefully) future A's as they try to impress down in Arizona.

Games started on Tuesday and the Phoenix Desert Dogs already have two games in the books so we can get a look at how some of our prospects have started out:

OF Michael Taylor: 5-8, 1 2B, 2HR, 1BB, 0SO, 1SB

SS Grant Green: 0-6, 1BB, 1SO, 1E

3B Stephen Parker: 0-4, 1SO

P Carlos Hernandez: 3.0 IP, 1H, 1SO

P Travis Banwart: DNP

P Justin James: DNP

P Michael Benacka: DNP

It's still early and most of our pitchers haven't made an appearance yet but I thought it would be good to have a place to congregate and talk about how things are going in Arizona. First topic should probably the hot start Michael Taylor has gotten off to. You can't tell much from 2 games but Taylor really needs to have a great fall league and he couldn't have asked for a much better start. Another important topic is Grant Green's defense, getting his first error isn't a good sign but I am more interested about the chance to get more up to date scouting information about his defensive skills from the heavily scouted fall league.

Phoenix's next game is tonight at 6:35 PT and you can check out the Gamecast over at the MLB's AFL site.
