Holyland Hardball
On a recent transatlantic flight I caught this documentary about the attempt to bring the game of baseball to Israel. Maybe it was just the perfect thing to entertain me while I was in the air, but I found it fascinating. It's going to be shown tomorrow night (Sunday, 1/10) at 7 p.m. on KQED. Here's the link so you can read more about it. Link I'll look forward to knowing what other people think about it.

The other baseball movie I want to see that got really good reviews last year is “Sugar” – review online here
The funny thing about baseball is that people will believe what they want to believe. -Joe Posnanski 8/29/09
Just added it to my Netflix.
Thanks.
Losing this team would be a huge failure for this city and an affront to Oakland’s great sports legacy.
I saw "Sugar" and was a bit disappointed.
Good premise, executed "meh"ly, IMO.
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
Are you sure it's on at 7 on KQED?
I tried to set my DVR but it says that human spark is on then.

My mistake
It’s on MLBTV. Was getting it mixed up with the Sam Cooke documentary that will be on KQED on Tuesday night, if anyone is interested. So sorry.

Neither do I :-(
It sounded kinda cool.

I might get the dvd
If I do you are welcome to borrow. It was a wonderful documentary. Or, you can come to a SABR meeting with Wes, when we have a screening there.
haha
I wish they would show this on local TV here!!! It is sad that our attempt at a league failed a couple years back, I miss being able to just hop in a car and go catch a game!
no comment.

My wife and younger son saw a couple of games
They never had a chance… The fans would have been American olim, but they played 7 innings with (IIRC) aluminum bats. Mets, Yankee, and Red Sox fans (describing 90% of Olim) do not want to watch college balls.
On top of all of the marketing mistakes, the owners treated the players and staff like crap… all the way to not paying them on time or at all.
On the other hand, great t-shirts…
