Is Chavy the X factor for this team? Or is it someone else?

O.K. I will admit my excitement for the A's right now on a scale from 1 to 10 would be about a 59, so perhaps I am way to optimistic however, I can really see this team winning the AL West! We really have some fantastic young talent on our baseball team along now with the miraculous resigning of Duke, and the surprising signing of Sheets by far the best free agent pitcher available! The only real need this team has is some power.

My main belief is that the A’s need to acquire 1 more HR threat, perhaps that could be Johnny Damon perhaps that could be Johnny Gomes or someone like that (I can remember when Gomes was being touted as the next great player when he was in TB). If we do not acquire that bat I can still see reasons to why we can win the Al West. The first reason is if Eric Chavez can manage to stay healthy, Chavy IMO is one of the most talented players in the game when healthy albeit a bit inconsistent but very talented ,and I believe he did it all clean. Chavy’s track record on health in the last handful of seasons is very bad so I wont hold my breath there.

I could see getting some power production from Jake Fox who I believe is one of the guys we got in a trade from the Cubs. In 7 minor league seasons Fox had 122 HR’s and 436 RBI’s. Will that translate to the majors? Last year in 82 games he hit 11 HR with 44 RBI’s. So I could realistically see some decent production out of him this season.

I was going to include the two STUDS we have right now in the minors! Taylor and Carter and they are STUDS! However I hope, perhaps stupidly that they do not get too much playing time here because I do not want their development to be slowed at all. If they come up and tear it up that would be awesome, I just would hate to see them rushed up.

GO A’s!!!!!!!
