Why this weekend is so crucial: Long-term supremacy
The real battle with the Angels this weekend is for longer-term bragging rights. Since the A's arrived in Oakland, they've played better baseball than their wandering SoCal rivals by almost every conceivable measure, and over any significant timeframe. However, that unbroken record is now in jeopardy.
Taken decade-by-decade, Oakland has consistently outclassed Cal/Ana/LAA. In each of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, the A's enjoyed more wins, more playoff appearances, and more World Series appearances. This decade, they've both made 5 playoff appearances, although the Slegna will get their 6th next month.
As this decade draws to a close, one key battle still up-for-grabs: Most Wins in the 00s. Before this season began, the A's held a comfortable advantage for the decade of 815 to 803 wins. However, due to our early season woes, LAA caught up to us on July 10th, and as of today, they hold a slim 893-888 advantage. An Oakland sweep this weekend puts us only 2 wins back with 6 to play-3 of which are against the Angels.
Let's Go Oak-land!

I appreciate your enthusiam
but the number of wins in the decade (assuming we’re going to count 2000-2009 as a decade and not 2001-2010) is completely irrelevant.
Even if I buy into your theory, the Angels won a World Series during this decade and made more playoff appearances. I would say that’s more important than the total number of wins. By your standard, they “win” the decade.
Exactly. Total Wins per decade are totally irrelevant.
There are differing opinions on me. According to Iglew "DFA is PT with a sense of humor. PT is DFA with introspective self-doubt. I like them both" but according to sirbed Im "The Stats Killer"

"Completely irrelevant"
Of course it is. For that matter, 95% of all sports is completely irrelevant, compared to the larger issues of the day.
This was just an exercise for fun. For the sense of humor, as DFA put it.

BTW, the table looks really cool
Nice formatting and color.

A much-better reason why this weekend is crucial
I don’t care to watch the slegnA celebrate clinching the AL West against the A’s. Let ’em do it next week against someone else.

yeah...just as long as it is NOT in Oakland next weekend
I hate watching another team celebrate on our field. Hate it!
Hate....Anaheim
Yeah, I said hate…
"Yeah, all I could find was Triple-Sec and rootbeer...What?! You mean you had tequila the whole time?!"
If the A's had a .100 winning percentage against the Halos....
I would want to beat their ASSES!!!!
I appreciate your point
though I could stomach one “decade” worse than the Angels since the last 3 were better.
