9/15/09 DLD: The 2010 Schedule!!!
I've got practically nothing to link here, except the 2010 Schedules were released today!! YAY!!!!
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
Oh, I need more stuff in this? Hmmm.... well, I've been watching youtube all morning, and this in particular. Love that movie.
Justin Morneau is out for the season with a back injury. Ouch.

It seems the MLB schedulers have hated the A’s for some time…seriously. Is there some kind of conspiracy going on here?

What is so bad about it?
I am not arguing that the schedule has been bad for the A’s in recent past. (no games on major holidays, zig zag travel, the mets in 07) but Having to play teams? DIdn’t St. Louis come to OAK in 2007? I don’t remember Chicago.

I don't remember the Cubs ever coming to Oakland
No loss – my experience at Pittsburgh was that having the Cubs in your house is just like having the Red Sux or Wankees.

Well, you’d think the Redbirds or the Cubs would be waaaay bigger draws than the Pirates and Reds. Hence, making attendance a little worse for the A’s. Also, I seem to remember over the past few years that the A’s keep playing the Red Sox and Yankees twice in their parks but only once at the Coliseum, damaging A’s attendance even more.

exactly......
thats how I see it….Albert Pujols himself would be a huge draw……..and the Cubs have a large national following. Here in CO, when the Cubs come to town the attendance goes up a lot, I would assume more then Pittsburgh and Cinci as far as the bay area goes.
All speculation….I guess anyone who is a fan of the Cubs or Cards can go to San Fran though…….

The thing that really sucks is we will need a fifth starter immediately
so we cant keep Cahill down in AAA for the first month to preserve his service time.

I think everytime Cahill is about to pitch
Everyone should get super negative and call him stuff and rip on his abilities. If it results in starts like last night, I mean. I don’t disagree with the sentiment that he isn’t ready to be a front end starter on a contending team, maybe we can get him there quicker by trashing him and creating a Karma bomb.

I wasn't criticizing...
you all for ripping on him… I rip on him in my head all the time. I was just wondering if we could forgo logical, reasonable means of talent development the A’s might employ and just all of us rip on him more vociferously. Maybe it is our blatant dissatisfaction with his lackluster start in Chicago that created some metaphysical force that allowed him to suddenly strike out a guy an inning whilst only giving up a single hit. Stranger things have happened, no?

Braden/Anderson/SIGN TIM HUDSON/Gio/Tomko
Cahill and Mazzarro both need to start in AAA
I dunno, that’s all I got.
Maybe try and get Vazquez from Atlanta if that rumor they are wanting to keep Huddy is true. Vazquez would be a solid #3 in Oakland.

Ugh
I was at Game 3 of the St. Louis series and had to endure the Cards 3 run bottom of the 9th comeback 5-4 victory. This was one of the games that precipitated the Dotel trade.

That was the one A's game on that trip I missed because I was on a train to Chicago
But I had to see the end of that second one in Wrigley, where Todd Walker slid home for the winning run.

i did the trip on a car. was driving up from st. louis to chicago during that game—had to stop on the shoulder for an hour because i had reached the edge of the radio signal and just had to listen to the whole game.
but the one that broke my heart was the 2nd at wrigley (or was it third, it was the 2nd one i was at anyway), when mulder pitched 8 innings giving up 3 in the middle but a lot of 0’s around that, and in comes bradley who takes those 8 innings of wonder and gives them away in .1 allowing 2 cubs runs in the 9th for a final of 4-3.
anyway, it’s a good road trip.
don't care if i ever get back.

I had a good trip, though I didn't get too much time to see a lot of non-baseball stuff
I started it with a couple weekend games in Kansas City, then took the train to St. Louis. I was able to visit the zoo and botanical gardens before the night games and that was nice, but with all three games in Wrigley being day games and me needing to rush to the airport immediately after the last one, that’s what my time was mainly taken up with in Chicago.

That right there is all three current division leaders, plus two currently second place teams, plus maybe Lincecum/Cain on their home turf as a finale.

what's really weird is the season ticket pricing page
the Plaza Level, Plaza Level Outfield and Reserved sections are completely missing.
As a season ticket holder for years who has had my season tickets in the Plaza Level section, I find this very strange. I just emailed the season ticket services office to get more information.

Yes, I know, and the email message I got said that as well
I was referring to the a’s webpage that lists the prices for 2010 season tickets by plan and seating area. No Plaza Level or Plaza Level Outifleld seating area is mentioned.
Given that my season ticket seats in Section 225 are in the Plaza Level, I found it very strange that it is not even included in the listing. Here’s the link
by OaklandSi on Sep 15, 2009 8:24 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Al Davis wanted those seats removed,
so… sorry.
You’re out of luck!
by LoneStranger on Sep 15, 2009 8:34 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
ha ha
actually, this does remind me of when the A’s put on their website their seating and pricing early in the offseason before they tarped the third deck — without of course mentioning that they were tarping them off, just putting the lists of seating and pricing as if the third deck didn’t exist. It took my mention of that here, and Brian in 317’s phone call to the A’s, to get them to publicly mention the tarping of the third deck.
Now, I do have a hard time believing that they would tarp up the entire plaza level except for the plaza infield (209-224)…but it’s not really a joking matter.
by OaklandSi on Sep 16, 2009 8:16 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
They aren't tarping them off. Al Davis is having his mausoleum built.
