Green tours the Coliseum, Beane meets with Boras.
Apparently Grant Green was given a tour of the Coliseum on Tuesday, and Billy Beane began contract talks with the devil.
Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that A's first rounder Grant Green toured the Oakland Coliseum yesterday. His representative, Scott Boras, met with A's GM Billy Beane, who says he expects to sign Green.
Good news for the A's I suppose, but if they want to sign Green I don't know why they are giving him a tour of the Coliseum?
There may have been mention of this but I'm not sure so I thought I'd make this known.

I think the purpose of the tour was to
show Green the various Fatapples locations.
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
It might have gone like this:
Beane: about that contract…
Green: yeah?
Beane: dude, look at this place. It’s a shithole!
Green: I dunno. It has some charm.
Beane: wait till football season starts. You’ll be fielding grounders on the 40 yard line
Green: what? seriously?
Beane: I don’t know what Boras told you, but we’re not exactly loaded over here.
Green: man, that’s a good point
Beans: so you gonna sign, now?
Green: might as well. I’ll be playing in New York in a few years anyways…
I don't always blog. But when I do, I prefer AN. Stay thirsty my friends.

This is common for high draft picks. I remember soon after they drafted Zito he was on the field playing catch before a game; I threw a ball to him and he gave me his autograph, before I had any real clue who he was.

Knowing Boras
He will sign but not until the last moment of the deadline. It will be for something between 3 and 4 million. Holding out will cost him more than his bonous and he knows it. He knows the A’s do not have a allstar SS so his road to major leagues is wide open.
Assuming he doesn't tank in the minors.
I'm the genius who said Chris Carter will slug .650 his rookie season.
Green's contract
Could Boras be pushing to get Green a major league contract? I know that it happens (Josh Beckett, for example), but I don’t know how common it is.
Is this within the realm of possibility for someone like Green, who is a solid first rounder, but definitely not a “can’t miss” pick.
