Can anyone explain to me the AA playoff schedule/routine?

I work for the Springfield Cardinals and we have 2 playoff games after our last homestand. No one I talk to at work seems to understand or know who we play for those 2 games. If it comes down to the champioships and Midland ends up playing here, I will probably lose it.

All I ever hear about is Holliday and “Hey, thanks for the midseason trade,” and so onAll I know is that Midland in #1 and the Springfield Cardinals aren’t!!! WOO!!! At least I have that going for me. .

Most minor leagues (AAA is an exception) admit teams to the playoffs based on first-half and second-half record

Assuming Springfield already qualified by winning the first half, they might then already know they were hosting playoff games, but not who they’d be playing.

It’s an odd system, since teams that win the first half suddenly have no need to actually do anything in the second half, but I guess it works since the primary purpose of minor league games isn’t really “winning” anyway.

31HRs

"Carter's 25-game hitting streak isn't any normal streak. He's 46 for 97 (.474 average) during the run, adding 16 walks and compiling 81 total bases in the process. I'm out of superlatives for what he's doing." - Kevin Goldstein

Desme was #3 on this week's hot sheet
Team: high Class A Stockton (California)
Age: 23
Why He’s Here: .400/.545/.760 (10-for-25), 3 HR, 5 RBIs, 7 R, 7 BB, 3 SO, 3-for-4 SB
The Scoop: Healthy for the first time since the 2007 college season, Desme has made up for lost time by showing a promising combination of power and speed. The righthanded-hitting Desme is batting .290/.366/.571 between stints with Stockton and low Class A Kane County. More impressively, he’s belted 31 home runs between the two stops, including 20 in 60 games for the Ports, while swiping 40 bases in 45 attempts. Those 31 bombs are tied for the minor league lead. He also ranks second in the A’s organization in stolen bases and third in RBIs (89). Desme generates tremendous bat speed, as evidenced by the home run totals, but his strikeouts (144 in 480 at-bats) show he might have to tone things down at higher levels.

I’m really busy with school, so I can’t post on my regularly scheduled days anymore. If someone can do it, let me know.
