Final Series, Final Tailgate - UPDATE!
Hi Everyone!
There has been some interest by several in getting together one last time at the end of the season and doing the tailgate thing. I just spoke with Brian in Ticket Services and he said there is good availability for a group for both of the weekend games against the Angels on 10/3 and 10/4.
Update: So, guys...since it seems pretty clear that Option 1 is the way we want to go and, because of the Cal game on Saturday, it also looks like we will be doing this on Sunday, 10/4. I'm going to put down the deposit for the group. I'll follow this up with a post early next week to ask you for your orders and how to pay. Yay!
Here are some options:
1. Lower Box (closer in than AN Day)
First 20 rows
$27
2. Plaza Level (beyond the bases)
Section 226
$22
3. Plaza Outfield (beyond the bases)
Section 230
$16
Here's a link to the stadium seating map

Count me in
I’m all for spending my last day at the coliseum in 2009 with you people. Especially if it means another tailgate.
I have tentative plans to go to that Friday night game with a college buddy so I’d prefer the tailgate/AN party to be for either Saturday or Sunday. It does all revolve around me and my involvement, right?

If your college buddy is another hot chick
I mean, like, as hot as you?
Because really, the only thing better than ONE hot chick? TWO of them!

Up here
They own a public radio station, like many universities, and that station used to own a national program that had a few scattered employees outside LA. I got to go down for meetings about ten times a year, so I have fond memories of the Spudnuts on Figueroa.

no, i never brought it up
when i went to NRAF AN day a long time ago, I had this bright idea of doing card stunts, but the logistics proved too difficult. We’d need a larger group. Like, probably 8 full rows of people.
by noava22 on Aug 27, 2009 12:01 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Do you remember the not at all successful card stunt in Anaheim?
by LongTimeFan on Aug 27, 2009 3:52 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I still have a few leftover sheets of green posterboard and yellow posterboard, if you want 'em.
BBG might know what became of all the actual cards that we made & used. I still have mine because I got Swish to autograph it… :)
btw, for those who weren’t there (or here) at the time: The stunt was unsuccessful due to the fact that we had to grab random strangers in A’s gear at Angels Stadium and try to explain the concept to them so they could fill in the gaps and help us. Lots of us were handling two cards simultaneously, which was a coordination challenge on its own! AND we were way the hell up at the tiptop of the very top deck, way above the top of the foul pole, in the dark, nearly invisible to TV cameras even though BBG was actually in contact with… a producer, maybe?… who tried to get shots of us but missed, except on one of our worst attempts.
If you tried that at the Coli, though… it would be totally successful. You should go for it!

Yes, and Bellinis are the Italian version of that, traditionally with Prosecco and peach puree, although we could do a whole bar with all different kinds of fruit purees.

ditto -- thanks so much for organizing this
by the way, on the last home game of every year, fans typically congregate as close to the A’s dugout as they can get, just before the end of the game. The team typically walks toward us and applauds us, then the players throw equipment, hats, gloves, (hand over bats, not thrown), etc. (Last year Cargon tore off his necklace and gave it to a fan.) It’s kind of sweet.

but it’s still fun. It’s also very cool to be applauding the players, while they approach us and applaud us as well.

How about we all claim one player per fan?
I mean, a few of us will probably get 2 players, but it’ll keep down on the ruckus.
