I think I am falling for Arnold Leon. He’s been money.
CHRIS CARTER IS A MAN! HE’S (YOUNGER THAN) FORTY!

Now that Carter is AAA
I might catch a few River Cat games
Good thing that Travis Buck ditched that bat wiggle and his average plummeted 30 pts.

He was doing just fine with the wiggle. And he wasn't given a real shot in the bigs.
Why are we effing with success?

to be fair....
the success of adopting a new approach, as Buck has, shouldn’t be judged on the immediate results which follow. The 30 point drop in BA could be directly attributable to the fact that he is not yet comfortable with the new approach.
True,
but I’m having a hard time seeing what was wrong with the original approach.

It's a very busy swing.
A lot of things have to go right for his timing to be on. If one of those things is off, his whole swing is off, and it might be a while before he figures out what part of the swing is wrong. Maybe he does that double shoulder tap too early, then his balance is off when he loads up. Maybe his wiggle happens to late and he can’t get around on fastballs.
A more simple swing is easier to maintain and easier to fix.

True.
I guess we have to wait and see. I guess it bugs me that we don’t even know how effective his swing really was. Plus, I don’t know how much the waggle/taps really does for him. My completely amateur/knowledgless stance on the issue is that it doesn’t really do much for his timing. He does it before the pitch and ultimately ends up in the cocked ready position. But again, I don’t know swing mechanics.

A curious question:
Leon’s been pitching awesomely, but it seems like he never lasts that deeply in games. Is he running up a high pitch count as he dominates, or is he just on a strict innings limit?
The latter
Leon’s been treated as a RP in the A’s system until about a month ago. He’s plenty young and has plenty of stuff, I think the plan was just to take it slow on his arm.
He’s been my favorite sleeper in the system for two years or so now.
"Loyal? I'm the most loyal player money can buy." - Don Sutton
Strict innings limit
Expect to see his innings climb by about 30 a season, which means he probably won’t be an option at the big-league level until about 2012 or so.

Stassi off to a good start north of the border
Also, not sure if anyone has linked this anywhere, but Stassi received the highest percentage bonus over slot (533% over slot) of any player in the draft.
Thats actually not correct
Coffee got 995k when his slot was 150 thats way more than 533%

While I am happy to have Wallace
It is kind of saddening to see Matt Holliday become the best hitter in the majors since the trade, and Carlos Gonzalez tearing it up in Colorado.
Don't believe in yourself.
Believe in Me who believes in You.
Just think of John Smoltz striking out 9
after being manhandled in the AL and you will see that Hitting in the NL is like hitting in AAA.
Better pitching in AL
Better hitting in AL
There are a few exceptions like Pujols etc but I don’t take much stock in that league. Just my opinion though.
He was never going to be that hitter here
I wish we still had CarGon but Wallace is a beast
PREPAREDNESS_Because those goddamn zombies aren’t going to kill themselves
I would trade Wallace for Cargon striaght up 7 days a week and twice on sunday

yea
I think when all is said and done the Matt Holiday trade ends up being one of the worst in Beane’s career.
Now what makes Beane such a good GM is he got a lot of value in return after the deal didn’t work out to cover his mistake, but giving up Cargon AND selling low on Street really came back to bite him in the ass.
Sometimes life will strike you out on a curve ball and the only choice you have is to flip off the umpire and walk to first base anyway.

Honestly I thought selling low on street was a brilliant move
I thought street would be hurt or expensive unneeded and good not great

Losing CarGon was bad,
and you have to say that we’ve lost overall on the deal, but I think that it was a reasonable gamble, considering how bad the division looked at the beginning of the year. A lot of projection systems and smart people saw us as having as good a shot as anyone when the year started, and instead everyone on the Angels started hitting like Mark Teixeira for no apparent reason and the Rangers are apparently amazing too. The results are bad, but I don’t think the process was horrible.
Yes, it makes sense if you thought the A's had a chance at the beginning of the season

Which i totally give you credit for being far more down on this team than anyone else at the beginning of the year.

I still fully believe
That the offseason signings/trades for Giambi, Nomar, Holliday, and bringing up MAC was just to sell tickets — we were always going to be bad, but at least there was a reason to come to the ballpark.

Vernon (Chris) Carter has been promoted to AAA
Well, at least according to the Sacramento Rivercats roster page on their website.

Well
To the ‘Level Per Season’ bloggers (including me): He did kind of force the issue (Promotion) didn’t he? Congrats Chris Carter.

several months in AAA
then a mid-season call-up to the BIGS (assuming the success continues of course).
this makes me very excited for 2010.
It's close enough to the end of Midland's season that this is fine
And he’ll probably be playing in in the postseason for Sacramento.

I’ll be in SAC this weekend. I’ll take some pics and of course share…for the right price.
Asyouwish...
Did you got to SMC? I’m just curious because of profile reports being a gael fan.
3/5, 2B, 4 RBI
I think I’ll take it.

What is Grant Green doing
Has he been assigned to a minor league team? I could not find him on any of the rosters. Is he taking the end of this year off and start fresh next year? I would like some GG info please, (also any other info on this years draft picks I know Stassi is at Kane County and is doing well in his first week).

Sorry Stassi is at Van not KCC

Green will go to the Instructional League this Fall,
and then will be assigned to a team next year, according to “Forsty.”
