And Jonathan Richman wrote a great song about them
"And Julio Franco is batting right-handed!" -- Wayne Hagin, A's radio play-by-play, mid-80s
Straight Out of Boston
To reinvent the modern rock and roll
He put down the cigarette and dropped out of B.U.
Too sensitive for this world
Too sensitive for that girl
He could look right through the Cezannes
If he had a girlfriend
A g-i-r-l-f-r-e-n
In the astral plane
Too sensitive for this world
Too sensitive for that girl
Please God don’t let me end up like Jonathan Richman
Turn the radio off
He was never called an asshole
As he would walk past the Fenway
Modern girls modern rock and roll
He’s straight you’re stoned
Too sensitive for this world
Too sensitive for that girl
Please God don’t let me end up like Jonathan Richman
Turn the radio off
Please God don’t let me end up like Jonathan
Please God don’t let me end up like Jonathan
Please God don’t let me end up being like Jonathan Richman

Cliff Lee is owning the NL
He’s a good pitcher obviously but he is making the rest of the NL his Bitch.
Hopefully our youngsters will be doing this in 2011. Owning the AL. Nice to see some dominant performances like we used to get at the beginning of the decade.
But what will you be unhappy about?

Simply put, AL pitchers don't get the luxury of pitching to a pitcher.
But it cuts both ways. NL purists constantly complain about how in the AL, they don’t actually play baseball, because a baseball team only has nine starters, not ten.
It’s all a bunch of bollocks.
Seems like the AL pitchers have to be that much better b/c of the DH factor.
They are facing the Best of the Best hitters in the DH spots (theoretically) is this borne out statistically?

Naah. He's younger than me.

"Go ahead and overachieve, you scrappy Brett-Favre-colored walk-takers." —Rev Halofan
It's funny that the Cardinals
always sign pitchers who seem washed up or are average pitchers for the most part and Dave Duncan or some genius turns them around.
Joe Pineiro, Ryan Franklin.
He even got Jeff Weaver a few years ago and managed to get wins out of them.
Of course there’s the AL to NL factor for those last 3 mentioned but still.
