The Blez Family Grows Larger
I just wanted to let AN know some great personal news. Some of you know that my wife had a miscarriage earlier this year. It was pretty earth shattering to us.
But it turns out that we got lucky enough that she got pregnant almost immediately right after the miscarriage. So Mrs. Blez will be 15 weeks tomorrow and the due date is February 10, 2010. Ironically there are already three Blezs already born on February 12. My youngest brother, my oldest brother and my niece/goddaughter. If the baby is two days late, there will be four Blezs born on February 12 which is just downright odd. On top of that, apparently fate doesn't really want me to be a big football fan because a huge amount of birthdays and wedding anniversary all happen right in the middle of the NFL playoff season.
We're still both a bit nervous about the pregnancy because the miscarriage shattered the illusion of lollipop and rainbow pregnancies. But we're just thrilled to be going through this again. I'm just so excited that I'll be having another little one calling me "Papi" before long. It's simply the proudest title I will ever have in my life. Nothing in my life will ever be as important as what I do with my children and family.
I'm very happy to share this very happy news with AN and the best group of A's fans anywhere.

Great news, Blez!
When I read the headline, I assumed this was about the whole Nico adoption thing. Any news on that front?

Congrats, Blez.
My two closest friends had a miscarriage in the middle of last year, and I found out when I tried to call them to tell them that my wife had just given birth to our son. They made it through and didn’t give up and are now the proud parents of a two month old baby girl. I agree, not everything is lollipops, but there will be a time when you can relax and gaze at the wonder you’ve created.
Funnier topic, I actually had my wife schedule our wedding a bunch of years back for September instead of October just so we’d never have to worry about missing playoffs. When my wife got pregnant, everyone wanted us to find out if it was a boy or a girl so that they could buy the proper color clothes. My mother said “If you don’t tell anyone, he or she will have a whole lot of green any yellow clothes.” Yea, that’s not a problem for an A’s fan. :)
by LoneStranger on Aug 18, 2009 12:53 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
LOL
Yeah the green and yellow thing is just weird. Why do people just assume those are neutral clothes? I wear green and gold all the time and there isn’t anything neutral about those colors, baby.
by Tyler Bleszinski on Aug 18, 2009 1:02 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Beware of painting a nursery yellow!
Yellow, a cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. While it is considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused.

Congragulations
This being AN and all, I’m sure some folks would point to Feb. 12 as an outlier of some kind. Me, I’m wondering what’s in the Blez DNA that gets your lot frisky in mid-May. Figure that out, bottle it, and you won’t ever have to worry about funding AN again.

Good on ya Blez. All this Feb. 12th talk reminds me of a fun statistic
In a group of 23 or more random people, there is a greater than 50% chance that two of them will share the same birthday. It’s a classic probability trick, and can be a great game for parties.
The birthday problem has it’s own Wikipedia page.
