Leon is finally starting and doing it well.
The A’s should have a good amount of iteresting starting pitching prospects in the high levels again by next year.
Sometimes life will strike you out on a curve ball and the only choice you have is to flip off the umpire and walk to first base anyway.
Get over that Mendoza line!
Its about time he had a hitting game, lets hope he figures it out this time around.
Can I just say this game delay would REALLY blow w/ out AN. by brian.only on Aug 10, 2009 6:14 PM PDT

Also,
we may have covered this before, but whats the deal with Wimberly in Midland? Is he a legit SS-guy?
Offensively,
he seems like a slightly worse but way cooler version of Cliff Pennington. I don’t think he has the power needed to make it in the bigs unfortunately.

I thought Wimberly
was being developed into a utility player.
Is Petersen going to be a Swisher type defensively?
I’ve heard he’s very good at 1B and OF corners, with passable CF defense. That should at the very least make a valuable bench guy.
This has been pretty much the impression I have got
Decent athleticism and good routes in the OF help him to get by in CF but probably doesn’t have the legs to patrol center in the big leagues on a regular basis.
What the heck, Wallace?

For a guy drafted last season
To already be in AAA and performing pretty well is fine with me.

I agree
But I am starting to think he may have been rushed a bit too much by the Cardinals. I think the pressure to keep hitting at higher levels may be causing Wallace to press too much and that this is being reflected in his walk rates.
I hope the A’s leave him in AAA the rest of the season, let him rest in september, then bring him into instructs and work on his approach and being more patient in the plate. Then send him of the AFL to try and apply the approach in game situations. Also using the AFL to evaluate if he might be ready to contribute at the start of the season next year.
I agree he was rushed.
I’m of the feeling he needs a lot more time in AAA. His states just arn’t where they should be. and even if it means Wallace not getting the call-up until July ‘10, the A’s shouldn’t be promoting him until he’s ready.
There are some decent 3B stop-gap free agents next year, so I’d much rather take a flier on one of them, knowing that even if that player is a bust, you still have Wallace waiting int he wings—less rushed and with a more mature bat/defense.
