8/11 Minor Athletics
I was impressed with Cahill, especially later on in the game. Hopefully he can use this as a confidence booster. Key stat: 0 bases on balls. That's huge.

Grant Desme is trying to make me do this…

And I thought that meme was dead.
But yeah, Desme is trying to make me do that thing.

Desme is at that point where nothing he does in Stockton is going to change my opinion of him anymore.
Which I don’t mean as a bad thing. What I mean is that he basically has conquered that level and he’ll only be able to shed or confirm his “huge bust candidate” label through what he does at the higher minor league levels.

What's that? The theory that wearing tights can make you fly?

Oh I thought it was the fairy dust that did that.
Dating girls is like starting pitching depth, you think you have a good full rotation, even too many starters, then in an instant as soon as you trade your depth away injuries decimate your rotation and you are forced to start Sidney Ponson.

So being injured makes him a huge bust candidate?
The guy has hammered the ball this year. He’s a big time prospect.

No (but that does affect how good of a prospect he is)
The 31.5 K% is what makes him a huge bust candidate. Desme is more of an intriguing prospect than a big time prospect right now. He needs to maintain good production while cutting down the Ks through the higher levels before we call him that.

Im with you on that, very interesting, very suspicious
Reminds me a lot of Corey Brown.

I'm pretty high on Brown right now.
His K rate dropped from 36.7% to 25% this year all while moving to a higher level. Of course, 25% is still high but the improvement is very encouraging. Add the fact that’s he hitting .302/.375/.575 this year plus (reportedly) good defense in CF…well obviously if he works out, he would be insanely valuable. But he missed a lot of time with an injury this year and he’s only played in 44 games this year so all this is SSS.
I’m hoping Desme makes the same improvements Brown did next year.

Im worried about the injuries this year
but I kinda feel like if Brown works out that means Deseme can’t. I know thats not logical but odds are one of them will fail.

The K rate is an issue, yes, but his production after two years out of baseball
astounds me. I was cautiously optimistic about him after his hot start, but he’s continued it at a higher level so he’s back on my radar.

Yup, it astounds me too; he's definitely on my radar as well.
Can’t wait to see what he’ll do at higher levels next year.

Buck and Wallace need to turn it on!
"Carter's 25-game hitting streak isn't any normal streak. He's 46 for 97 (.474 average) during the run, adding 16 walks and compiling 81 total bases in the process. I'm out of superlatives for what he's doing." - Kevin Goldstein
So has Ynoa not played? Is he hurt?
I said "Why not baseball?" He said he hated baseball and demanded we NEVER speak of it again. He then, oddly enough, walked repeatedly into my fists and feet. So weird that he would do that! - TwistNHook, CGB
Yes
Arm soreness.
He’ll be in the fall instructional league.
Sometimes life will strike you out on a curve ball and the only choice you have is to flip off the umpire and walk to first base anyway.

Eveland isn't even a good Triple-A starter, sheesh

The last 2 games I've been at...
…were his last two starts.
it was exceedingly painful to watch.
The good news is we got to see Carson come in, get an out and lower his ERA from 10.80 to 10.18. Then he gave up a run and we watched it shoot up over 11.
