Open Thread: Game 79 - A's at Cleveland
Oakland Athletics at Cleveland Indians, Jul 4, 2009 4:05 PM PDT
The battle for the 2nd pick in the draft continues, as the A's, Indians, Royals, and Diamondbacks all compete for the honor of "well at least we're not the Nationals!" Vin Mazzaro goes for the A's tonight, hoping to delay the fireworks until after the game, opposed by Carl Pavano.
Travis Buck sighting!!! And Orlando Cabrera is proof that you don't need a .300 OBP to bat 2nd in the order. Then again, a .200 batting average gets you the 4-spot, so...Go A's!

Question about Choo
He’s sporting a .400 OBP, 13 for 13 stealing, on pace for 20 HRs. Is this his true ability? Seems like more than he was projected to provide, but is pretty consistent with what he showed in 2007-08. What’s the good word on the Choomeister?

What a shock
I had to lie down because my shoulder is killing me and I decided to do so it when we went down 3-1. I come back felling a little better and see that the score is still a 2 run differential.
This team is like the ligaments in my shoulder at the moment. Fucked. I am hoping the ligaments heal in time unlike this team’s short term prognosis.
Complain about Hannahan?

Nope
I guess the pain is not too bad. I woke up this morning and I actually felt a little better than yesterday when I had the accident. The rib is not bothering me that much even though it is broken. It clicks a little when I do my shoelaces up.
The shoulder, if I move it the wrong way it hurts a little but more clicking noises like tendons or ligaments making contact with bones. They told me there was no damage to the bones so I guess I have to wait for the ligaments to heal. Right now or as of yesterday when it happened, I cannot put my arm out to the side without it going weak and feeling like it wants to dislocate itself. It does not hurt but just has that weird going out of joint feeling. They told me I did not dislocate it so I have to be patient. The only time it hurts is if I move it the wrong way. I figure if the ligaments were that badly sprained, it would hurt more so I am really hoping it will get better with lots of rest.
I am prepared to wait but I want to be able to work out eventually and they did tell me the ligaments would fix themselves and everything should tighten up again.
Rest up, Eric
We need you next April. In fact, we’re counting on you.
