i was going to say Cardenas hasn't played in 3 or 4 games
It’s too bad the Minor League websites aren’t more in depth because I couldn’t find anything regarding any injury or anything else about him.
Let’s hope he’s ok, maybe a promotion to Sacto is in order?
On a separate note, I’m really hoping Everidge somehow gets a chance to play in Oakland. His numbers since being in AAA have been very consistent, and let’s hope it translates so we can end the doubters around here who call him a AAAA player…

I know Everidge was playing some 3B in AA is he also playing 3B in Sac ?
"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, either way, YOU'RE RIGHT !"
Everidge is 26 and having his first good year.
Im very skeptical.
"Their Triple-A rotation, led by Trevor Cahill and Brett Anderson, could be better than some big-league rotations; Michael Ynoa is the best Latin American prospect of the decade; 2008 draftees Jemile Weeks and Rashun Dixon bring much-needed tools to an advanced group of hitters." - BaseballProspectus.com

It couldn't hurt to give him a chance
It’s not like we’re going anywhere. Why not call him up and see what he is?
Solace: Law says he's a fourth OFer
PaulThomas: I think Keith Law is only a fourth analyst
Oh I agree.
But I wouldnt be surprised to see him go the way of the Brooks Conards of the world.

Amusingly
He’s 11 for 32 with five extra-base hits (two homers) since being called up by the Braves earlier this month.

The average won't...
But I’ll bet the XBH power will. Conrad’s for real.

It is?
He’s always shown good power and walk numbers. I wouldn’t expect a lot of average, but I don’t think a career similar to Russell Branyan’s is out of the question.

He's not always shown good walk numbers
average for the minors and would project to below average for the majors. He has good power, but that was pretty much all he showed until this year. .813 ops at Midland for a 25-yo is not at all impressive. His two oldish years in Stockton were even less impressive. Branyan had waaaaaaay more power in the minors.
It looks like he could be a decent mlb hitter now/for a couple years, but he’s a 1B/DH and his track record does not suggest his bat is good enough for that, especially with Barton, Doolittle, and Carter around. A .775 ops (optimistic) 1b with poor defense is not much good.

What IS great about Everidge...
Is that he DESTROYS lefties. A 1B platoon with Barton would make a ton of sense.
Everidge will be an adequate regular, but as a platoon guy he’s lights out.

Kinda like Donnie Murphy?
Look at what happens every time Patterson tries to make the jump from AAA to the big leagues. Speaking of 26 year olds that the A’s haven’t exactly rushed into the major league lineup while the team has been scoring 0.03 runs/game.

I wouldn't say he's having his first good year
He’s having his first great year.
Other than off years in ‘04 and ’06, he has been counted on to OPS around .850.
Now maybe that doesn’t translate and he’s obviously been blocked coming up in the system mostly due to more highly regarded players, but if he could plug a one year hole possibly at 3B with adequate defense and something around an .800 OPS, that would make more than a few fans happy round here.
Not saying it’s going to happen, but that would sure be swell if it did…

He's not a 3B
the org. has been trying a ton of guys at 3B in the minors in the past few months, and Everidge mostly DHs. Adequate defense at 3B is not at all realistic.

ok, i figured tht much
just didn’t know because i haven’t had a chance to see him live or any video, but this just confirms my suspicions…

To play third base, do you
have to get to it, or is just finding it enough?

I don't think Everidge really ever plays 3rd anymore though.
I have no problem with giving him a shot, but only if it’s not at the expense of Barton, who is a much better prospect. That means he has to play 3rd, and the A’s at least don’t seem to view him that way. (please correct me if I’m wrong about this.)
You are correct, except for the "anymore"
He is not and has never been a 3B.

Sore hammy for Cardenas.

3rd Round Pick Justin Marks made his debut in the AZL today
and got lit the hell up. Didn’t record a single out and was pulled after 3H, 4BB, and 6R. Probably doesn’t mean a thing in the long run but not exactly the way you want to start your pro career.
Sounds like he has infinite potential
In as much as his career professional ERA is infinity.
