Giambi on DL, Barton called up

Giambi on DL

Here is a link about Giambi from PA SportsTicker. It does not mention Barton being called up.

Star-divide

I saw on MLB TV that Jason Giambi went on the 15 day DL today. To replace him on the 25 man roster the A's called up Daric Barton. Let us hope that Barton is here today and in the line up at 1B. Here is to hoping Daric stays up longer than 15 days.

I didn't even KNOW

there was a "Driedup List," but I’m all for Giambi officially being placed on it.

I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal

There are alot of A's that could be on that list.

Nomar, Springer & Crosby, (he is young for this list but lets face it he is done like dinner) to name three.

and to soak up innings since our SP are all so young

so Geren blows out Wuertz and Bailey’s arms a tad bit less.

every team needs a crappy pitcher/Mentor to eat up innings in those 8-1 losses

Springer has a terrific head start as a mentor,

as he pitches like a mento.

This situation brings out the Missourian in me (though not from there)

Show me, Dale. I’d like to give you the rest of the season to show me.

Sounds like the A's read that "if I were Gm for a day" post that rocky632 posted.

they didnt cut Giambi, but the closest to it we’d have really seen otherwise.

Heh

They just said in the opener that Giambi going on the DL is “bad news.”

Giambi goes on the DL...

Barton homers and A’s win with miraculous comeback. Coincidence?

Jason doing us a favour....

Billy said to him “Barton is blisteringly hot in AAA, please go on the DL so we can give him a shot”
Jason: " A paid holiday? Sweet as!."
Billy: “You’ve got strained quads OK?”
Jason: “I sure have” wink

finally, Barton gets and extended chance

hope he takes good advantage…and looks like he is off to a good start.

So sorry to hear that Giambi is hurting. The best thing would be for him to stay on the DL for a good long time.

Going once

I was thinking about that

Although my initial reaction to this news was unmitigated joy, the timing isn’t so good. Giambi can’t be traded before the deadline now (if someone wanted him, anyway) without approval from the commissioner’s office.

No one wants Giambi

inability to trade him is a non-factor.
