So how many years has MLB been saying, "This One Counts"? Pretty much since they switched so that the winner got home field advantage in the World Series. Our Viva El Birdos blog has some interesting thoughts on the topic. Me? Well it's a bit of a different year.
The A's are tough to watch this year outside of the young pitching. Everything from the defense to the offense that appears to be actually worse than last year despite the presence of Holliday and Giambi. So perhaps this is the first year when the three-day break away from the regular season woes of our green and gold is actually a good thing. Although I will say that Geren benching Sweeney the other night had renewed my enthusiasm for the year.
Still, I'll watch the game tonight and hope that the NL actually wins. Yeah, I said it. I want to see the NL actually take down the AL (it's not like our green and gold will be in the World Series this year). And in some ways, I like a lot of the NL players a lot better than the AL guys. Maybe that's because the NL guys don't suit up for the Yankees, Red Sox or Angels. I don't have any beef with NL guys. Course I'll definitely root for our Andrew Bailey if he gets in which definitely isn't guaranteed.
So how much do you care about the All Star game this year? More than ever? About the same? Or has the A's lackluster season so far dampened your enthusiasm?
