Draft Day. Today's going to be fun since we'll be dissecting two players all night. All three of our teams won last night...its contagious.
| Colorado Springs
Patterson 2B: 2-4, R, BB, SO
Buck RF: 1-3, RBI, SO
Gonzalez: 6 IP, H, 6 BB, 9 K What a tease. I want so bad to say be excited about this start, but I can't with the BBs.
H-Rod: 1.2 IP, 3 H, ER, BB, 4 K, HR 2.57 ERA. First HR he's given up this season. Someone mentioned this the other day, but I like that the A's can stretch him out in a game, can give you 1-2+ innings of work. 12 IP and 24 K on the season...oh and still just 22 years old.
Webb received the win in relief and is now 7-1. He may have found his niche as well in long relief. Hitters are still batting .318 off of him.
Carter DH: 3-5, 2 R, HR, RBI, SO Hit his 8th HR on the season to go along with 22 2B. OPS stands at .916 on the season.Leads the league with 49 runs scored.
Everidge 1B: 3-3, 2 R, 2 2B, RBI, BB .306 Promoted to AAA. I think he'll be playing 1B everyday with Barton promoted to the big league club. Also if Barton comes back down, can fill in at 3rd. In terms of making it to the bigs, I would think it would be as a DH somewhere while also filling in at 1B every now and then. Has cut down his Ks quite a bit. I'm kinda excited to see what he can do in AAA.
Cardenas 2B: 2-4, 2 R, RBI .388
Spencer LF: 3-3, R, 2B, 3 RBI .265 I don't know what to make of this guy. Is slugging .546 on the season and batting .348 to start the month of June.
Hernandez, C (W, 4-0) 6 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, BB, 3 K He's getting some lucky breaks. AA batters hitting .363 off him, yet he's unbeaten.
Lansford: 2 IP, 2 H, 3 K
| Kane County
Berroa DH: 0-4, BB, 3 K
Christian 3B: 2-4, 2 R, 3B, SO
Kleen 1B: 3-3, 2 R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI, BB
Desme CF: 1-4, 2B, RBI, SO
Smalley (W, 6-1): 6 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K 2.03 ERA All the runs came in the first as you can see from the line. 52:16 K:BB in 48.2 IP. I like his #s so far. Batters are hitting just .203
Storey (S, 6): 1 IP, SO 0.68 ERA
I remember several years ago when the A's drafted Mulder and Zito. I don't know if anyone else went to see Zito's first professional game when he was with Visalia and they were facing the Single A Giants in San Jose. My brother, Dad and I went to check it out and my first glimpse of him was his random stretching out in left field. He went on to strike-out a bunch of guys that night. I think he went 4 Innings or so. It was pretty awesome. And Mulder, I just remember him holding out for a while and then when he pitched for us in the spring one year, he cracked a HR or two. Those were fun memories.
Do you have any draft memories of A's players who were just getting started?
