Cabrera Rumor - To Boston?
This story talks about the Crimson Hose and their interest in our SS. It seems Bobby would return to short if the trade is executed. God forbid. We should be trading FOR players like Mark DeRosa, not sending players away.

He’s not too popular in the red sox clubhouse, for mysterious reasons. But my understanding is that the feeling is pretty strong.
They do need a shortstop, but there’s little reason to think he’s an upgrade over any of the three they already have. Even Lugo can be decent when he gets healthy. And Lowrie, while not the long term solution for the Sox, should be at least league average when healthy.
On the other hand, if the red sox acquire the big time shortstop they want, lowrie might not be a horrible pickup for the A’s.

Cabrera signed for $4M, so that means the BoSox would have to pony up a whopping 2 mil. And this from a team that spent $50 million just to talk to Dice-K. I get the comp pick angle, but I don’t see how O-Cab’s contract really affects anything for the Sox.
