6/21 Minor Athletics
I played my father in fantasy baseball this last week and I was leading 14-3 going into the last day. I checked this morning and be beat me 10-9-1. Add that to the A's loss, and I need to talk about our Minor Leagues.

Ellis 2B: 1-4, RBI
Buck DH: 1-4, K What roster move do the A's make when he returns from his stint with Rivercats--Barton?
Everidge 1B: 2-4, R, HR, 2 RBI, K .347 Positioning himself nicely for a late season call-up. If nothing else, he should see himself get a shot with some AL team in the next few years. Combined with Midland, he now has 31 Extra base hits.
Simmons: 6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 K No BBs in this start, back to back nice outings.

Padron, R DH: 2-4, R, 2 2B Not sure what to make of this guy. It seems like he's been a roster filler whenever the A's need an emergancy catcher or left-handed bat...not sure. This year he's been with Stockton, Midland and Sac. Last year he was with Stockton and Sac. That's a lot of movement.
Fernandez: 5.1 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, BB, 2 K
Benacka went 1.2, with 3 K, and Demel had another scoreless inning of relief. Now has a 0.64 ERA on the season. Keep it up...or down I mean.
Stockton: Final game of 1st half.

Keough LF: 4-4
Poirier: 4.1 IP, 3 H, ER, 4 BB, 5 K Needs to cut down on the BBs. He now as a K:BB of 28:24
Hopefully with the next three days off for Stockton, Weeks will be returning to action.

Christian 3B: 2-3, R, 2B, HR, RBI, BB Pretty active game. Batting .368 over his last 10 games, and .300 on the month. I'll admit, I know it was just one month, but I was worried about his May performance, this rebound is nice to see

Desme CF: 0-3, R, BB, 3 K, SB (24)
Hernandez LF: 1-3, R, HR, 4 RBI Big hit of the game.
Haviland (W, 5-3): 6 IP, 3 H, BB, 5 K Was shaky in his previous 3-4 starts. Nice to see this effort out of him.

Leyja 2B: 0-3, BB I'm really interested to follow his contact rate this season as well. Last season he showed a strong plate-discipline with a 31:19 K:BB.
Penalba (W, 1-0): 5 IP, 4 H, 7 K This is his first stint in Vancouver. Last season spent time with the DSL and AZL A's.

He's had 4 hits, 1 contact out, 3 strikeouts
In 8 at bats….I’m not too familiar with contact rates and what’s good or not, but I’d venture that 5/8 is pretty solid.
More importantly, of course, is #1.
Outman, fighter of the Hitman, champion of the K, he's a master of scoreless innings and friendship for everyone.

I read a post by someone who say him play
who said that the two strike outs in the first game he played were rather questionable calls.
I think before people start questioning Dixons contact rate we need to all look ourselves in the mirror and say to ourselves, “SMALL SAMPLE SIZE!”
Sometimes life will strike you out on a curve ball and the only choice you have is to flip off the umpire and walk to first base anyway.

They have sent SS/2b mike affronti from AA to the AZL to learn catcher
on the AZL roster has recently signed picks 9th richard/5th parker/11th spina/45th shaw
A’s have added lefty daniel haigwood from independent leagues to AA midland. Haigwood was a solid prospect who went with gio/rowand to philly in the thome deal several yrs ago. in 06 sickles top 3 philly prospects were hamels/gio/haigwood, outman was 17th. he was last with the red sox and pirates this spring and then released

But frankly, I’d be surprised if Hunter or Ross work out. They seem like Italiano-type projects who have the velocity but not much else. Plus, they’re college picks so they don’t have the time Italiano has (had).

I would love for EVERYONE to “pan out”. Personally, I don’t think Ross will pan out. Too many issues. The Stockton team is probably a little nervous right about now (1st Half Over for Kane County). I bet there are a couple guys who will be shipped to Kane County, Vancouver, or worse, home to Mom & Dad.
