6/19 Minor Athletics

Alright people, really nice win last night. Good to see Barton got his first hit. Maybe everyone can help me out. I don't get to see many A's games this season, being in Memphis for the summer, but what does Barton look like at the plate in his latest call up? Every time I follow the game on mlb.com it says that Barton flies out or lines out, sprinkled in with the occasional strike-out. Just curious...

On another note, a small world story last night. My girlfriend's brother lives in Chattanooga TN, and his neighbors have some relation to a minor league player in the A's organization. This immediately sparked my interest. I asked for any detail he had as I started spitting out the different affiliates, Sacramento Rivercats, Midland, Stockton....He said that he was picked up, considered a throw in, and was tearing up a league before getting promoted. So happens, we come to the conclusion that his neighbor is related to Matt Spencer, LF for the RockHounds.  Spencer grew up in Morristown TN. Ohh, if his family is reading this, I no longer consider him a throw in on the trade--didn't mean to offend. Haha.

Anyway, I thought that was pretty cool. Let's see how our boys did last night. Did Weeks keep his streak alive...?

Still don't know what Corey Brown is battling right now. If anyone has any word...please share.

Hernandez, C (W, 5-1): 5 IP, 5 H, ER, 2 BB, 3 K  Batters are now batting .372 off of him and he still continues to win...very interesting.

Stockton:

 Final    1   2   3   4   5   6   7   8   9      R   H   E
 San Jose
 0   0   0   1   0   1   0   3   1      6   6   2

Recap | Box |

Richard SS: 2-4, R

Weeks 2B: 1-4, BB  19 and counting...

Smith, M DH: 2-4, R, 2B

Keough LF: 2-4, R

Madsen: 3 IP, 2 BB, 3 K  26 year old missed most of last season with elbow issues. Will likely be moved along slowly. Look for him to put up some innings in Stockton and then moved to Sacramento later in the season based on performance.

Carignan: 1 IP, ER, 3 BB, K  Only his second appearance, so that BBs are a big surprise, but hopefully he can answer the critics, like myself, that says he walks far too many people.

Kane County: Last night's game was postponed. Cougars play two today.

Tonight is opening night for our Vancouver Canadians. Good luck!
