Open Thread: A's at San Diego - Is it Getting Crowded in Here?

Oakland Athletics at San Diego Padres, Jun 19, 2009 7:05 PM PDT

We really need to stop meeting like this.

I mean, this makes it three nights in a row, and, well, maybe we should slow things down a bit.  Don't fret, AN.  It's not you.  It's me.

Two teams currently residing in the lower region of their respective divisions face off tonight as the A's slide further south on their nine-game tour through National League parks to take on the Padres.

Neither club has enjoyed much success in interleague play thus far; the A's are 2-7, and the Pads 1-5 in '09.  San Diego snapped a thirteen-game losing streak against American League teams with an extra-inning win over Seattle last night.

Am I wrong, or have the Padres not been the same since:

Holliday

Since you're here, I might as well provide the lineups.  But the Cheeze-Its are mine.

Bob Gweren talking about how much he is enjoying coming home to San Diego...

Well, if he likes it soooooo much then he can leave his lame in-game managing, lineup card failing, ugly mug, positive “well I liked the effort’” bullshit spouting ass in San Diego!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is all…..go A’s! I’m off to drive over the hill in Santa Cruz so have a great game everybody!

p.s. Cabrera, you are indeed old and tired and are of no use tto this team anymore so please just go awy,……please!

I've already eaten an entire 9-oz. box of Cheez-Its today

Following another box that I ate yesterday. So you can have your damn box.

I love them. But they are my enemy, and I hate them! I never buy them, because long experience has shown me the utter flaccidity of my willpower. Until the box is empty, they own me. But Wednesday evening after work, I walked into the local Super Fresh, and there they were in the entrance foyer (as they always seem to be) marked down to about half price. I’d had a brutal couple of weeks at work, I was very tired, in a foul mood, and inclined to indulge. So I bought a couple boxes, which are now thankfully gone, but not without cost. Of course, the economy being what it is, they’ve chiseled what used to be a 10-oz. box down to 9 ounces (who do they think they’re fooling?), so at least I had that going for me – 1350 calories instead of 1500.

Don’t even ask about the Doritos that were also on sale (not only on sale, but 20% more, Free!).

I’m actually in pretty good shape, btw. But my life would be easier if Cheez-Its and Doritos were just abolished.
