GOG #23 :: Happy Padres Day! (30 points possible)
Three game series @ San Diego Padres -- June 19-22
Update -- answers added below in bold
- Series outcome [3 points] 2-1 Oakland
- Wade LeBlanc has five Major League starts under his belt (all from last September). Walter Silva has two Major League starts (both from this year). Which young Padres pitcher throws more innings? Gives up fewer earned runs? Strikes out more hitters? [+1 for each right answer, -1 for each wrong] Silva had more IP. Tie for earned runs (3 each). Silva had more strikeouts.
- Brian Giles has absolutely fallen off a cliff this year, to the tune of a .548 OPS (his career OPS is .902). Predict his AB/H/RBI for the series [2 points each] Giles didn't play (so 0 AB, 0 H, 0 RBI)
- Do the A's suffer any multi-error games in the series? [+1 if right, -1 if wrong] no
- Does Adrian Gonzalez add to his Major League leading 23 HR in the series? [+1 if right, -1 if wrong] no
- The Petco Park factor :: How many total runs are scored by both teams in the three game series? [3 points] 26 runs total
- Sweeney's return :: Predict his AB, H, and number of put-outs in center fields [2 points each] 9 AB, 3 H, 2 put-outs
- Does Brett Anderson settle down and get a quality start (6+ innings, 3 or fewer earned runs)? [+1 if right, -1 if wrong] no (only went 5 innings)
- Since Wuertz recently revealed to the media that he feels "physical drained", how many innings does he throw in the series? [3 points] 3 IP for Wuertz
- How many runs do the Padres score on Father's Day (Sunday)? [3 points] 4 runs
First pitch is in just 8 and a half hours. Get your answers posted... before it's too late!
Results
Scores were very low for this one. I think it was a combination of some mean questions, a low maximum score (only 30), and a very low minimum score (-6). So don't feel bad if you finished this one below water.
Overall scoring statistics
- mean = 2.88235 points
- standard deviation = 3.49790 points
- mode = 2 points
Your Scores
Congratulations to nevermoor. He wins the GOG and passes zaniac75 for the lead by overall points! And mikeA climbs into 2nd place, right behind him. It was a risky move to try to pass zaniac75 on this GOG, as they each could have scored -3 and fallen further behind.

What if
You or someone posts the answers in the old GOGs and we grade our own? Then you can compile the results into those cool graphs you have made?
I don’t know if that would save you work…. and do we trust each other for “self grading”!?
Just an idea
