Around SBN: Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire Vow To Fit In With Lin

I know this isnt really a post, but...

Can we not have a banner advertisement for the friggin Red Sox on Athletics Nation.  I really dont give a crap if idiots in New England want "Goosebumps  OnDemand".  And I know the blog needs revenue, etc.  but come on...do we have to do this?  If so, Capitalism is truly evil.....

If there is any more over-hyped franchise in all of sportsdom, it HAS to be the Red Sox.  Any goosebumps I get from that team, its players, and especially its fans are from sheer disgust.

Why is it that we need to be subjected to a marketing campaign for Boston on this blog?...I'm sure there is very good answer, but I will still not accept it.  I CANNOT see Curt Schilling (overhyped), D Pedroia (sic), or J Papelbon (again, overhyped) for one moment before I vomit in my mouth.

Allright, I guess i feel a little better now....

I'm sure most A's fans feel the same way

The thing to do is just ignore it. If the Red Sox and whoever associates with them want to waste money advertising to a bunch of people that hate them with a passion, so be it.

I doubt this site has much control over it

If you sign up for google ads, for example, they will post whatever they like. Now granted, to us Red Sox ads are pretty offensive, but I doubt Google feels that way.

Exactly. Nobody at AN has control over it.

SB Nation is ad-supported. Ads are determined computerized by the blog content. So, every time you refer to the Red Sawx.

Modifying the spelling of the big market teams (Yankmees, Red Sux, etc.) is the best way to bear any semblance of avoiding such ads.

Anybody who hates on the Red Sox

is alright in my book.
Good to see that more and more of us are realizing that the Sox are just as “evil” as the Yankees, only with more drunk, obnoxious fans singing Neil Diamond and swearing they were fans before ‘04. I hate everyhing Boston … Celtics, Pats, hell, I don’t even follow hockey and I hate the Bruins. Just cause I know everyone in the arena pulls for the Sox.
Cool town, though.

I needed a team so I wouldn’t turn into one of the eighty million pink hat-wearing Bud Light-drinking mulleted idiots at Fenway.

No, I've known this for years

I just wrote “us” because I didn’t want to sound like I was preachin’ at people. But, yeah, I still find it funny that lots of YOU :-) continue to hate on the Yankees when the real enemy is Boston.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m no Yankees fan, but I pull for them over Boston every time.

I don't know...

People on the Yankees I would like to see abducted by aliens and never returned:

Joba Chamberlain, Alex Rodriguez, Brian Bruney, Andy Pettitte

People on the Red Sox I would like to see abducted by aliens and never returned:

Jonathan Papelbon, Dustin Pedroia’s brother

Yanks 4-2 on my count…

It’s more about their fans than their players. Which, I admit, is probably kind of lame.

I think you and I are a lot alike, at least on this topic,

I completely agree with you … it’s all about Red Sox Nation. (Well, with a healthy dose of hatred for Derek Lowe, still … no class punk.)
But it’s the fans that have always made my blood boil. For years and years, all the cryin’, all the moanin’ about never winning. And it was always different than, say, Cubs fans. With Cubs fans, it’s more like, “Yeah, we’ve sucked for a hundred years — let’s have another beer and not let it ruin our day.” With Boston, it was always, “Yeah, we’ve sucked for a hundred years, and we’re pissed!! And everybody needs to understand that we deserve a championship, and it’s a global conspiracy that we haven’t won one.”
Then, in ‘04 of course, the unthinkable happened … and now they’re the most obnoxious, entitled group of spoiled rotten fans I’ve ever encountered. Not to mention the million or so who bought their Red Sox hat after the W.S. title, went out to the garden and rubbed dirt on it, and then tell you how long they’ve suffered.
The Yankees were and are conceited, no doubt, but the Nation is unbearable. Go Yanks, beat Boston! Please, someone save us.

somehow over the years, boston has leapfrogged NY in the most hated team dept. Yeah, and their funs suck the most too.

by sf drift king on Jun 17, 2009 11:35 AM PDT up reply actions

Call me old-fashioned.

I don’t like the Red Sox either, but only the Yankees are truly evil.

Red Sox only became annoying when they got good. Granted, it’s been several years now, but there’s no particular reason to hate Red Sox teams from, say, the 1970s, whereas the Yankees are to be hated for their entire history.

So if you think the world began in 1998, then sure, the Red Sox and Yankees are the same. But it didn’t and they aren’t.

Since this is apparently the venting thread....

I thought MLB Network was supposed to be unbiased. So much for that I guess. Last night they gave an update on the A’s/Dodgers game after the third inning. At this point, Kershaw had given up three hits while Braden had given up zero. Yet all they could talk about was how well Kershaw was pitching and not once did Braden’s name even get mentioned. What the hell is up with that? I’m not saying that Kershaw wasn’t pitching well, but Braden was obviously pitching better at that point in the game. Pathetic.

In keeping with the them of this post.....

Is anybody else completely annoyed when they go to the Colisseum and they have that god awful Dustin Pedroia video game commercial on a continuous loop running on all of the in house monitors and screens. Isn’t there something else they can show? It just pisses me off every time I go to a game and have to see that crap!!

There is no A in OFFENSE!!
