Recap | Box

Christian 3B: 1-4, R, 2B, RBI, BB .253 Led off the game once again. For those that aren't aware, Jason is a converted SS. He stands about 6-3, 170 when he was drafted and is listed at that on the cougar website. He hit .330/.445/.567 his junior year at Michigan, so we might expect more power when he fills out or moves up the system. Still not sure why he is leading off for the cougars. Cougar Profile

Coleman SS: 1-4, R, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB .293 Fun player to follow. Tied for the lead in doubles in the Midwest League with 17. Is 6th in the league in the league with a .937 OPS. Baseball America says that Coleman would have been at least a 3rd rounder next season--pretty cool. Cougar Profile

Desme CF: 2-5, R, R, 2B, SO, SB (14) .280 If you havn't noticed already, I like this guy. He's batting .400 in his last 10 and .296  this month with 14 extra base hits. Prior to missing the last two years, he won the triple crown in the Big West Conference in 2007. If he puts another good month and half together, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in Stockton, maybe even sooner with his age. Cougar Profile

Paramore C: 1-2, R, 2B, 3 RBI, 3 BB .278 What an eye. He has 11 BB in his last 10 games and 18:12 BB:KK on the season. We've talked about him. See Grover's post from earlier today. Cougar Profile

Barfield RF: 2-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB .291 Has been struggling a little bit to make contact. He's got a K rate of about 25% or so. Profile

Haviland: 5.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 6 K  2.58 ERA  He's been very consistent all season. Has yet to give up 3 ER in an outing yet. I'm not sure what the A's did to have him turn things around or if he was injured last year, but he was drafted in the 33rd round and has a 13.9 H9 at Harvard with a 5.46 ERA. Profile

Well that was fun. That was a nice rally tonight for the A's. Feels good. Have a good night.
