"Precap" - A's Get First Series Sweep, 7-2 Over Royals
Baseballgirl will be back with the recap around 10:30pm, but just to give you a fresh thread until the real one, here's a "victory lap, sweeeeeeep style!" thread following the A's 7-2 win over the Royals, fueled by Josh Outman's 6+ solid innings of 3 hit, 1 run ball, and a 5-run bottom of the 7th capped off by Jack Cust's bases clearing double.

How many did the Royals take from us?
That’s right. Zero. They didn’t get diddly. That’s a sweep.

when they got to the 6th down 1-0
and I realized that Crosby, Cabrera and Suzuki were due up, all of a sudden I just knew something good would happen. And in the 7th once they began to threaten those old fears of RISP failure went right out the window. And we do have a really good pitching staff, even in its very young and incomplete form. Things have really changed since Cabrera called that meeting— looks like a ball team now.

Josh Outman is a beast...
who apparently has too straight a fastball to be a successful starter. I say psssht.

Just got back from the sweep
and this one was very sweet indeed. Outman was very economical and mostly quite sharp. Bannister was very good too — I’m not sure what was wrong with him, that they had to take him out, but I certainly wasn’t sorry to see other pitchers, and neither were the A’s. They did seem to be honing in on Bannister when they saw him for the third time.
oh by the way
last night on the BART platform — after the A’s stomped the Royals 12-3, a couple of Royals fans actually were crowing at the A’s fans “where are you in the standings?” I of course answered, “and where are the Royals? Won’t last.”
Ruh-roh
I go away to Oregon on vacation and the A’s sweep. I officially can’t come back to the bay area.
I'm staying about 2 1/2 blocks from there right now.
I’ll be sure to check it out. Will I know which are yours?
