5/12 Minor Athletics

What a great win tonight. I hope this production will become more consistent. The minor league clubs had some fantastic performances tonight, but none came close to that of Jeremy Barfield's 3 homer, 7 rbi game. Here are the results:

SAC:

 Final    1   2   3   4   5   6   7   8   9      R   H   E
 Albuquerque

 Sacramento

Patterson CF: 1-3, K, .287

Putnam LF: 1-3, BB, K, CS, .333 (good to see Danny is back were he belongs).

Cunningham RF: 2-4, R, 2B, HR (1), RBI, K, .381 (Aaron healed rather quickly--great performance coming back off of injury).

Cardenas 2B: 2-3, R, 2B, RBI, .220 (after a slow start, Adrian is improving, 7-18).

Mazzaro RP: W (1-2), 8 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, one hit allowed (Vin came into relieve Santiago Casilla, working a rehab stint...both were nearly perfect).

Brown CF: 1-4, 2 RBI, BB, K, .367 BA

Carter 1B: 2-5, 2 R, K, .287 BA

Spencer DH: 1-5, R, 2 RBI, K, .200 BA (good to see a promotion for Matt. Stockton is a hitters league and Midland, though more difficult talent wise, is most definitely a hitters environment. So it will be interesting to see how Matt does in his time here.)

Donaldson C: 3-4, 2 R, RBI, BB, K (his bat is really coming alive after a poor start).

Horton SS: 3-4, R, RBI, .301

Fernandez SP: W (4-3), 6 IP, ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 3.67 ERA

Thomas CF: 0-3, BB, K, .245

Mitchell RF: 0-1, 2 R, 3 BB, SB (4)

Christian Vitters was promoted and went 1-4 in the game. Christian is the older brother of highly touted Cubs 3B Josh Vitters, drafted number 3 in the 2007 draft.

Hernandez SP: W (2-4), 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 K (a breakout outing for Carlos? He had a great showing in KC last year. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.)
