GOG 2009 #08

It's time to take another crack at the Mariners! Judging by your responses to GOG #00, no one here really thought that Seattle was a team to take seriously in the AL West. But that was before they swept the A's in the second series of the season and sped off to a 13-9 record. Now the Oakland heads up to the Pacific Northwest to hopefully return the favor and move the standings back in the direction of your predictions.

Of course, a major factor contributing to that early season sweep was the bad luck of running into both King Felix and Eric Bedard. This series, the Athletics are up against the back end of Seattle's rotation in Carlos Silva, Jarrod Washburn, and the un-spellable Chris Jakubauskas. Let's cross our fingers for Holliday to heat up and put some large numbers on the scoreboard!

Answers are due before the first pitch at 7:10 pacific. I've got a lot of work to do today, so GOG #07 scores probably won't show up until sometime over the weekend.

Results

With a good night's sleep between me and last night's devastating loss, I think that there was one major factor contributing to both the A's series loss and the somewhat low GOG scores. Just check out the answer to question 7. If Ziggy doesn't have the flu, we don't need Russ Springer in those high leverage situations. As Graham from Lookout Landing put it in his extensive game three recap: "Thank god Brad Ziegler had the flu."
