Photos: Ports vs. River Cats 4/8
The future A's were playing... well... the near future A's. The Ports actually won 3-2 in a 7-inning exhibition contest where innings ended randomly.
Here are some of the shots I got last night. The entire album is here. Let me know if that doesn't work, I'll upload them to Flickr when I get home tonight.
It probably goes without saying, but please, ask me first if you want to use these pictures.
Banner Island Ballpark scoreboard and Stockton Arena, home of the Stockton Thunder
2B Michael Affronti and C Raul Padron signing autographs
Giovany Gonzalez, who should really go by that instead of Gio:
1B Daric Barton. Hmm... he seems familiar.
Ports starting pitcher Scott Mitchinson warming up
The bullpen watching as Gio gets ready
Area code 305 - Miami, FL. Gio was born in Hialeah, a town northwest of Miami.
Cliff Pennington laying down a bunt
More Gio
Michael Affronti rounding 3rd on his 1st-inning HR off Gio
C Anthony Recker (one of the biggest minor league players I've ever seen) blocking a ball
Jack Hannahan
I have no idea how to end this, so here's a ballboy with a cup on his head.

Cool, though admittedly the Adenhart news is a major distraction :(

Sorry...
I posted this before I saw the news about Adenhart. I meant no disrespect or anything, of course.
The horse jumped over the f---ing fence.
Oh, I know.
Just saying even I can’t really think about photos right now. I just didn’t want your post to go ignored.

His post won't go ignored by people who like photos.
People will come here when they are ready.
The photos are great and I enjoyed them immensely. Thanks for posting JLaff! And no one should think posting this was disrepectful.
If ever a game should have been called on account of wind, that one was it. Good thing Jerry Blevins didn't have to pitch; he's tall, skinny, and I could practically see one of the 40-mph gusts...sweeping him off the bump and pinning him to the left-field fence. --Mychael Urban
Anyone have the stats on this game.
Cant find them at MiLB.com
"Their Triple-A rotation, led by Trevor Cahill and Brett Anderson, could be better than some big-league rotations; Michael Ynoa is the best Latin American prospect of the decade; 2008 draftees Jemile Weeks and Rashun Dixon bring much-needed tools to an advanced group of hitters." - BaseballProspectus.com
I know its a Ports Ballboy, but I am so gunna use that last pic as a "Cheer Up, Cubs Fans" pic

Classic pic
of the ballboy. Wonder which player is responsible. Thanks JLaff. Great album and actually I’m a bit thankful for something to distract me from the tragedy, since I’ve been obsessing over it for hours.

Don’t even think about feeling bad. These are excellent pics. Thanks for sharing them. Whether you posted before or after does not matter.

Nice pics!
Kind of feel bad for Barton w/ the great spring he had- The Cats look like champs again w/ that lineup.
Bobby Crosby = ground-out triple play...
Thanks, jlaff!
These are great! I really want to get to some minor league games this year.

Oh wow.
I was totally unprepared for that question (ha).
Make a list of ten things, and I’ll choose one, and possibly a second.
I'm here to talk about the past.
Okay:
1. Your book
2. A vacation home in Phoenix
3. A Jaguar XJ6
4. World peace
5. An HD TV
6. A big fat hug the next time I see you
7. A beer and a hot dog at said minor league game
8. The end of hunger
9. A World Series win for our boys
10. A big fat hug the next time I see you (okay I said that twice, but I really need a hug!)

Let's see:
Since I am just now reading this, I can be excused for blowing it on Number 1. I’m gonna skip 2, 3, and 5…for now, anyway. 6 & 10, we took care of. 4 & 8 are in the works, you are on for Number 7, and #9…just six months away.
I'm here to talk about the past.
