Open Thread: Bay Bridge Series Game 3 - A's vs. Giants
It's Brett Anderson vs. Matt Cain at the Oakland Coliseum today, backed by about 20 AN faithfuls and hopefully a few other fans as well. I'm at the game with my volunteer bretheren, so I'll count on someone to post the lineups. The game recap might be a tad late today, so please hang in there...

Familiar line up
It looks like Geren has settled on a line-up, at least for the beginning of the season.

Yeah..
it was pretty crappy last night tho. Had Eveland’s average Fastball at like 83mph.

they have a new gameday premium
it’s just a preview, it will cost $19.95 for a year I think after the preview.

I can't believe that there's no TV for two of the three A's/Giants exhibition games
And the one that was shown was on the A’s channel.
I mean, wouldn’t A’s/Giants games, even exhibition games, still garner pretty decent ratings?

I'm pretty sure they were on tv this time last year.
I was expecting it to be on, especially when I logged on this evening and saw about 5 games being shown on mlb.tv.

Apparently he's a converted catcher.
They expect him to backup at catcher this season when required.

Or Zito
good zito at least.
Bad Zito would give up a GS too.
Dang, Ellis bobbled the potential double play and he was charged with an error.

I still don't that they're in the majors, but yeah
Anderson seems more ready for the bigs than Cahill at the moment.
Nice, Anderson was able to get out of the situation.

It’s become such a habit to talk about Cust striking out, that Ray accidently called Buck, Cust when he struck out.

Cabrera’s throw was off-line on a tough play and it’ll go as an infield hit for Velez.

It's probably because they only started using it today/yesterday
and everyone has got out to and hit a fastball (or changeup in Sweeney’s case). I’m sure it’ll sort itself out as the season progresses.
Did they just say that they FINALLY have a new scoreboard?!
Chicago. Where the Dead can Vote. Where the Voters of Tomorrow are found in the Obituaries of Today.

Bobby Crosby = ground-out triple play...
Lol, listening the Giants radio on the way home
They were discussing going over to the A’s booth to see if they could make a trade to get Anderson.
Ellis strikes out and the inning is over.

I wonder how the veterans on the team can play the leadership role if they can't deliver at the plate.
yea look at every other superstar and have killed the ball
He better have a good year if he wants to get payed
And that's when we'll start judging the hitting of the vets
Their only concern in ST is to get in shape, stay healthy, and see enough pitches that they feel ready. It’s the young guys who have to perform in ST to make the team, so they have different priorities.
Josh Hamilton has to prove himself in every at bat,
he’s wasted his career thusfar. Holliday, Giambi et al have done nothing but hit, they have nothing to prove in ST.
im concered cause we need him big this year
I think hes superstar but just hasnt been playing like it thats all. Jason bay willl be in oakland next year and holliday in boston mark it down
If today's lineup is official... I don't like it.
Why should Cust be batting behind Chavez?

Bobby Crosby = ground-out triple play...
So lets say that Bailey makes the team
add him along with Cahill and Anderson, who gets dropped from the 40 man roster? There’s 1 slot already open.

I'd DFA Jeff Gray, and either give Copeland back or put him on the 60 day DL
then again, there’s no room for Copeland.

What's the status on Duke?
Has he had his surgery yet? Have they figured out what exactly is wrong with him? Has a timetable been set?
So many questions. I think his prognosis could have an effect on the 40-man roster situation.
He had his surgery; they won't know anything for a few weeks
I don’t think a timetable has been established yet.

Springer is killing me here. But we still have the lead.

Even if it doesn’t count, it’s better than when they lost 10 in a row.
