Open Thread: Game 19 - A's & Rangers vs. The Weather
(5:54 PDT) Still in a rain delay, and word from Ken Korach is that it's just not letting up so first pitch is no longer imminent and it's unclear whether or not they will be able to play tonight. Stay tuned...
UPDATE, 6:07 PDT: The weather has been declared the victor. Tonight's game is rained out, to be replayed as part of a double-header beginning at 2:05 PDT on Friday, May 29th. Maybe Duchscherer can start one of the games!

So whats the word?
On a game start time.
"Their Triple-A rotation, led by Trevor Cahill and Brett Anderson, could be better than some big-league rotations; Michael Ynoa is the best Latin American prospect of the decade; 2008 draftees Jemile Weeks and Rashun Dixon bring much-needed tools to an advanced group of hitters." - BaseballProspectus.com
Not "A" word...
“The” word. And the correct answer is “Bird”.

i blame you for all the calf injuries...
if you didn’t like goats so much, the calves wouldn’t get so p’d off.
injuries
i’m sure many have addressed before, but does anyone think geren has something to do with these calf and other muscle related injuries? total speculation, but it seems entiely possible that geren is simply failing to institute proper amount of general discipline, including stretching and general keeping-in-shap work outs. cuz, you know, those things actually matter when you play sports, like, being in shape and properly stretched out.

The A's should skip him
Makes him available out of the bullpen and makes the team better in the short term.

This doesn't bode well
With our (current) staff, all these rainouts and postponements could wreak havoc in the second half. Our bullpen is going to be awfully tired and need some long outings from pitchers who haven’t proved their ability to do so at the major league level.
Except the A's could wind up starting Duchscherer, Gio, Gallagher
instead of Outman, shaky-version-of-Cahill, etc.

Nico, Duchscherer can't pitch in the May 29 doubleheader
he went on the 60 day DL. He can’t be activated before June.
Dang! As of what date? I heard he might be ready right around then
Was he put on as of April 6th?
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
Here's the date
according to Stiglich:
Cameron was not on the 40-man roster, so to make room for him, the club transferred Justin Duchscherer to the 60-day DL. That’s no big deal. Duchscherer, recovering from elbow surgery, will be eligible to come off the DL June 4, and he probably wouldn’t be ready to pitch before then anyway.
So it sounds like he was.
Not really a big surprise. But I miss the Duke.

UPDATE Josh Outman, tonight’s starter, will be pushed back. Dallas Braden will start tomorrow, Dana Eveland Friday at Seattle, Trevor Cahill Saturday and Outman Sunday. That gives Brett Anderson an extra day to recover from the blister that knocked him out of last night’s start in the sixth. He’s scheduled to go on Monday against the Angels at the Coliseum.
Vicente Padilla, who was supposed to start tonight for Texas, will go tomorrow.
