"Chavez will play as long as he's healthy"
Even if he keeps hitting .110 for 3 more weeks? You have to draw a line…

Which is to say, he'll be out there as long as they possibly can run him out there.

Crosby seems like a more important issue to worry about re: salary

you can't keep playing someone that hits

Not only are we bringing him in the fifth, we’re bringing him in to face the bottom of their order.

Time to score 9 runs and give Bailey his 3rd
win of the season.
Looks like Geren's
going to try the whole pitch your whole bullpen in the hopes that you come back. If the A’s don’t win today, the pen’s wasted tomorrow. Honestly, I’ve never one to get really mad at managers but goddamn is Geren trying. No Buck? Sac bunt in the first? Infield in? Sac bunt with Raj (because no Buck)? Giese over Gallagher (and Outman) in the pen? Bailey now? That’s 6 decisions THIS game!!!

to putting a guy with that arsenal in the rotation. He said his mentality was wrong before and he was nibbling. You wonder what he could do if he didn’t nibble and threw that stuff for 6 IP.

We have hitters good enough to hit in fifth to ninth spots
Plus four extra lower order spots custom-created for the A’s.
Our lineup is fine for 1 - 9
as long as it’s AAA or lower.

Very true.
With Devine out for the year, I say keep in the pen. Then maybe re visit the idea in the offseason.

Well, let me ask you this -
IF (and it’s no guarantee) Bailey, if he started, could pitch as well as, say, Braden, would you prefer him to replace Eveland/Outman in the rotation or stay in the pen?

for all this, we're 5-7? 5-8 now?
the offence is concerning, because it’s anemic. it just looks bad.
that and the mental errors.
i watch an SC team that throws the ball away A LOT – 6 errors 5 times this year so far. i understand it’s college, but that’s kind of a silver lining thing. it really could be worse. but sometimes i think that SC’s offence could do just as good against a major league team… all it takes is one or two bounces.
but all it takes IS one or two bounces.
"The hard... is what makes it great."
I know this sounds crazy but I'm not worried about the offense long-term
I’m just concerned with the idiotic mistakes we make as a team by not knowing the situation. It’s correctable. Very correctable but Geren really hasn’t shown the ability to run out a lineup card worth spit and our players have no clue on the bases. That is what frustrates me. We’ll hit… I guarantee it! We just can’t give away outs so often.
