Cant wait for Cardenas and Carter to make to Oakland

I hope Carter can find a position.

White Sox always felt Carter was a level a year guy.

A’s seem to be taking it the same way with him. That would mean Carter should make it to OAkland right about the time Giambi’s contract is up.

Definitely

Carter’s potential is awesome, but he’s going to have to learn and improve a lot before he reaches it. Rushing him is a terrible, terrible idea. Same as Cardenas, who has a lot of power somewhere inside, but he needs time to find it.

I happened to see a picture of Matt Spencer the other day

I never realized he such a large man. So tonight, I saw he hit another HR and decided to look him up. Never, ever google Matt Spencer’s images.

He could really end up being an "Ellis" type throw in for the Blanton trade.

He got sort of lost behind 2B super prospect Cardinas and the fast rising (and awesomely named) Outman, but he started out as a VERY good hitter.

The A’s bet that he might be able to find his stroke eventually. He could very well be one of the big sleepers in the A’s system.

The only thing I worry about Spencer is where he fits in.

Of course trades can happen, but he’s not a really good outfielder, so he’s pretty much 1B or DH, of which the A’s already have Barton, Doolittle, Carter. He’s pretty far down on the depth chart at any position, so he’ll really have to impress to end up as anything but a bat off the bench/trade bait.

You can never have too many good/potential prospects at the single A levels.

Prospects at AA/AAA can get called up/injured/fail at any time. Depth at his level is a good thing; if Spencer hit’s at AA/AAA and we still don’t need him in the system, then we should trade him.

We really need to produce some hitters.

The pitcher we have will work themselves out in time. We have so many pitchers I believe our rotation will end up like this years Marlins in time. But we really need hitters. And by hitters I mean, not walkers. Im all for working the count and OBP but we need some guys that can just flat out rake.

"Their Triple-A rotation, led by Trevor Cahill and Brett Anderson, could be better than some big-league rotations; Michael Ynoa is the best Latin American prospect of the decade; 2008 draftees Jemile Weeks and Rashun Dixon bring much-needed tools to an advanced group of hitters." - BaseballProspectus.com

I think hitters are now the system's strong point now that Cahill and Anderson have been called up.

I mean think about it.

Possible Above Average/Elite position players:
Cunningham (above average)
Barton (???)
Doolittle (Above Average/Elite)
Cardenas (Elite, Arguably top 2B prospect in baseball)
Brown (Elite)
Carter (ELITE)
Donaldson (Above average/Elite)

And that’s just in AAA/AA. You only need three of these prospects (less then half) to succeed to really help the team.

Pitching is a lot thinner with Mazzaro and Leon being the only possible elite starting pitchers, and Simmons and Banwart being the only above average pitchers in AAA/AA.

Sometimes life will strike you out on a curve ball and the only choice you have is to flip off the umpire and walk to first base anyway.

So hitters are strength by default?

Not really the way I wanted that to happen.
