AN Home Opener Tailgate Photos
My flickr set is here.
Thanks to everyone who came yesterday and contributed to the fun. We had a fantastic turn out and serious amounts of delicious food and drink. Thanks especially to saint, mrod, and group, who were so hospitable and welcoming. The afternoon turned out to be surprisingly beautiful (if a little windy).
It was great to be able to put faces to names and I apologize that I couldn't remember them all so I could identify you in the photos. I met so many awesome people yesterday! Please don't hesitate to remind me so I can update the descriptions in the set.
Anybody else having images from yesterday, feel free to add them.
Thanks again everybody!

Thanks!
I have to give kudos to LongTimeFan and ZigFan31 for taking over photo duty and taking a lot of those images. Thanks you two!

Anytime!
I enjoyed doing it!
If ever a game should have been called on account of wind, that one was it. Good thing Jerry Blevins didn't have to pitch; he's tall, skinny, and I could practically see one of the 40-mph gusts...sweeping him off the bump and pinning him to the left-field fence. --Mychael Urban

there were about 6 or 7 of us that talked at fANfest about going
so I picked up tickets for us. I miscounted, so there were actually 8 of us, including a friend not from AN.
I was pretty certain that everyone else either had their season tickets, or already had tickets….

Food
I didn’t get to sample all of it, naturally. But lynnzgal’s guac was so good I wanted to stick my face in it, but that just turned out to be the tease to the real naughtiness of her shrimp. Gigs cupcakes were awesome, and I got the last scrumptious piece of mikev’s tri-tip.
And no, none of the above statements are code for anything.
However, looking at the picture of me with dogfather, is it wrong to say that I really, really wanted a bite of his hot dog?
P.S. I agree with mikev; let’s keep the gANg together as much as possible at these things. Says the guy who thought he had a box seat, but didn’t.

Too much to drink?
Or perhaps there was another problem?

From yesterday's thread.

I don’t think it’s possible to get a CGV actually AT the tailgate, so inappropriate was fine with me!

Also the ability to post through AN mobile. WTF Clockwerks?

That was great!
What a fun time!
Oh, no, wait…I just got to work in a sign shop for 15 hours yesterday.
On the bright side, I did get to go to Publix with my mom today. That was fun. For whatever reason, we chose to go to the one (it’s a grocery chain in Florida, iydk) that was just off the south end of Siesta Key (probably because it’s about two blocks from my mom’s house).
Okay, picture a Safeway, a busy Safeway, the day before Thanksgiving, pack it full of the elderly, non-English-speaking foreigners (mainly Germans, for whatever reason?) and pissed off New Yorkers and Bostonians, then add about 25% more people than what you’re picturing. I literally have never been in a grocery store that crowded.
But…I am trying to take some of your collective criticism (yes, I’m looking at you, O2B) and try to embrace Florida.
{deep sigh}
yay.

Did anybody see/hear from
AshvilleNC fan and his bat-mitzvah son? That was one of the better stories of the day, and I wondered how their trip was. I’m sure it was a blast, notwithstanding the game results.
Losing this team would be a huge failure for this city and an affront to Oakland’s great sports legacy.

It was great to meet you peeps on Opening Day.
Unfortunately, my wife was driving into the game (I took BART from work) and she ran into the traffic exiting 66th and because the north lot was full, had to go around to the overflow lot just before the south entrance. I think it took her about 45 minutes to go from the freeway at the 66th exit all the way around to the parking lot. I had to meet up with her because there was no way she was carrying our 9 month old and the diaper bag and our blankets the whole way. We missed the opening ceremonies and got to our seats a few minutes before the game started.

Did anyone else have a reaction to the cuisine?
I had two beers over the course of the afternoon and assorted other food, including some memorably good homemade chocolate chip cookies. I say “memorably” because I (sort of) recall eating similar confections in college (long ago, far away) and becoming very stoned. Anyway, that’s how I felt during much of the game (Was it a good one? Did we win?). Anyone else have anything similar happen?
And can I get the recipe?
